Really fun race, which suited me as far as bush-orienteering goes (was closer to a tough park sprint). None of the controls were hidden, so if you got the circle you generally got to the control, which was nice.
Ran faster than most with a bunch of top splits on shorter legs, but lots of medium errors (~30s) cost me any sort of reasonable result.
So fun to run sprint-style in open fields!

Errors
2mins - 4 control, first long leg went too far south, had to relocate twice
30s - 10 hadn't yet figured out that we were allowed to go through fences, so routechoice to the gate, then didn't quite nail the control location
30s - 13 not sure. looks like i didn't have a plan
30s - 20 - misread the map and skipped a control to one i had seen earlier
40s - 28, got flustered around a bunch of other runners and routechoice through the deepest green on the map. actually crawling on my hands and knees through scrub

50seconds behind prong so at least feel like i'm justified turning up to these events now!

Epic.
Was able to follow Dave for the first 3 controls then went my own way on the first long leg.
The first map felt pretty good, staying in contact, and only making small (<3min) mistakes and hesitations
Through the second map started finding things harder, making bigger mistakes.
Think i made 4 or so mistakes between 3-10 minutes through the course of the day
Started cramping on the third map and spent a lot of time walking due to complexity as well, some of it with the 2nd and 3rd last runners, until i made a 7 minute mistake at 46.
Probably didn't really eat enough for 4+ hours out there

Ended up getting disqualified after 4+hours and 50 controls because at one of the drinks control i took a drink and didn't punch. Pretty heartbreaking after trudging through to come into the finish as last finisher just before the switched everything off... but a great experience.

Swimming 33:38 [3] 1.8 km (18:41 / km)

1.8k nonstop.
Felt good and relaxed. concentrating on an exaggerated body roll (1kick) and getting my hand in the water before rolling.
Bilateral

Swimming 35:08 [3] 1.55 km (22:40 / km)

Oscar's first time in the pool crèche.
I did 7x 200s around 3:40, felt good considering. Main tech takeout was maintaining a higher head so there's less movement when taking a quick low breath.
One guy in the lane was smashing out 1:20 per 100m without breaks... another level, noticed his stroke rate was a lot faster, maybe close to 2 per second?

Running (Junk) 41:16 [2] 8.43 km (4:54 / km) +83m 4:40 / km

RedCycle run.
Thought I was back to 100% well but stomach was struggling and felt pretty nauseous at times.

Running tempo 1:05:12 [5] 14.49 km (4:30 / km) +151m 4:17 / km
shoes: GT2000 WhiteOrange

Great commute session with a backpack. 9.5k tempo (3:40) then 5x400s on Camperdown oval around 3:05 at nicely consistent splits
Great to get a good session in after a bit of a wasted week but concerned about lack of marathon specific training... might have to transfer down to the halfmara for Sydney

(sick)

Hit by a pretty epic 24h bug. head, gut, muscles all completely out of action
