goal here was to finish in a way that i felt healthy and happy the whole run, and didn't care whatsoever about the time. planned to run easy to cox, walk with purpose up to pluvi, then play it by ear. This ended up meaning walking most of the black range... at that time i realised that i was enjoying walking rather than running, so be it. foggy and beautiful in the valley, got some nice photos. Chatted with Jon Worswick for about an hour which was nice, and other runners at other times. Really succeeded in doing whatever made me happy for the whole race... this meant 1hr slower than 3 years ago.
Rolled right ankle reasonably badly in the first km from the startline, considered turning around back to the car, but kept going. was a bit of a limp at times, but didnt get truly bad until the last 3km steep downhill which i had to walk down, and was painful even then. very swollen that evening and moreso the next day... might get some nice bruising photos in a few days... doesn't look good for making the most of hobart later this week, although i CAN walk on it
Was pretty wrecked immediately after the finish for an hour or so, probably partially blood pressure dropping, and also the ankle pain kicking in. managed to not throw up or pass out on the bus.
Wrong shoes. need something with bigger drop and cushion for this race.
