Frozen Beaver 2016 with Ashley!

Beautiful day, great course, love these woods!

Ashley was interested in pairing up for a race and we decided to do this one together. I chuckle a bit, in that last weekend she remarked that I am twice her age and about her parents age. How bout that.

We got more points than last time around, not sure how placement worked out, usually takes a few days. Big props to APers out there, particularly Madman, Tone and MRAPhil. Very nice!

We put together a course that was a bit too big--and where we pulled the plug meant about 20 min of wasted time. We were pretty clean in the orienteering, and bobbled on 66 (I and others thought it was misplaced) and we were the second team to get to 81--the first team bailed on it and we looked and looked for the flag, which we found strewn on the ground. We grabbed a piece of it (after the time we spent, you betcha!) and left a piece on the side of the road and called the lodge to let the race organizers know. Turns out leaving it on the side of the road may have been our undoing...several teams got credit for a photo. :( I felt like it was only fair to let teams know that it was torn up...not sure what else should have been done because the punch was totally missing.

At the end, Ashley was pretty fried. She did great though! And we had a lot of fun.

Ran a bit out the the recycle O did a few points and ran back chasing after outdoorsmama and michellegreen. They had the maps, I tried a bit of memory o and (gasp) doing bearings.

Don't know what's up with the HR spike...weird. Trails were icy, maybe it was a sudden "o crap don't slip" moment.
