:(

Was having a really strong run through 10, then unraveled on 11. Got trapped and lost ~40s, which was discouraging and threw me a bit. Then I overran 17 which cost another 10s. Not a horrible result considering, but not good enough and I wasn't happy with it.

Running 45:36 [3] 5.2 mi (8:46 / mi) +100m 8:16 / mi

Sunday run at St. Edward SP with brother Eric. Relaxed effort, except he wanted to go hard on the big climb. I, being for a multitude of reasons averse to running up large hills at high speed, offered no recompense for his solitude.

"it should be remembered that men always prize that most which is least enjoyed. Thus, in a new country, the woods and other objects, which in an old country would be maintained at great cost, are got rid of, simply with a view of 'improving,' as it is called."

An encouraging run. Next weekend represents the endpoint of my Two-Year Plan. I know that it is now within myself to achieve the goal; however, likewise do I know it will require a performance at the upper limits of my abilities, and nothing less will suffice. Either way, I have trained to the best my mental and physical abilities have reasonably allowed. Therefore, there are no regrets.

In other news, the historic precedents to Gonzaga's current situation are worrisome. Once again, we face a yellow-and-black underdog from the Midwest in the second round; if we prevail, we will once again face UCLA in the Sweet Sixteen. The first time around, these scenarios resulted in our program's two most painful defeats, including the infamous Crying Game, which nearly caused a riot in my freshman dorm and led to the entire campus going into depression for weeks on end.
