Birthday-O at the Breseman's! A good old-fashioned PNW race, where you spend more time brawling with the forest than actually running, and 10:00/km is a silly idea. Lost six minutes in the general vicinity of 9 but on the bright side I was pretty consistently taking time back from Eric and Jourdan over the second half of the course. Overall, 3min behind Eric.

How do Jourdan and Will feel about their races? Let's ask them!

Sneaking in a quick BT loop at a semi-strenuous pace. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Watched Ep. 1 of Amazon's The Man in the High Castle, based on Philip K. Dick's novel (maybe the best of the many "Germany wins WWII" AH novels). In some ways this stuff is ready-made for TV - slap together some Nazified American flags, name the bad guy Obergruppenfuhrer John Smith = get an instant visceral reaction from the audience. But it will be interesting to see if the series can get beyond that low-hanging shock value fruit, and how they adapted the book, which is philosophically and emotionally powerful but not necessarily action-packed.

5 x 1k. Cold enough that I almost left half my ACL behind on an icy patch in lane three. Top WIOL competitor Jordan Olson's soccer team happened to be practicing at the same time.

Kirkland Turkey Trot "5k." I was six seconds slower than last year, but probably not as fresh due to the race yesterday (yeah let's go with that excuse). Third way behind a guy from the local college's XC team, and 15 or 20s behind the same guy who beat me last year. The next guy after me was a regular Ian Smith doppelganger, complete with distastefully garish orange/blue CSU track kit. Or maybe it was a Boise State club T&F uniform - I guess we'll never know. Other difference being, this guy's running tendencies skewed more toward rutabaga than potato.
