Cycling 41:56 [3] 12.05 mi (17.2 mph) +69m

Morning commute, long (Middle) version! Not one with the traffic lights today.

Forgot to mention there was someone with a CSU jersey at the event Wednesday. I had the same visceral reaction to that as to the first inevitable "[He Who Must Not Be Named] 2016" bumper sticker I saw befouling our own great state of Washington.

Running warm up/down 10:15 [2] 1.24 mi (8:16 / mi)

Cycling 41:19 [3] 12.05 mi (17.5 mph) +62m

Evening commute. Am way behind on my cycling and running hours this month. Need to catch up.

Wednesday Evening Series 2 @ Lake Wilderness Park. Ye gods, a mispunch! I can't remember the last time I MP'd; I think it's been years. Say whatever else you want about my orienteering but I'm assiduous about checking codes, not skipping controls, etc. However, today I was not as careful as usual, since in the rush of prepping for the event I forgot my O-bag and thus didn't have my description holder and wasn't able to check every code. With a valid result, would have gotten Eric by about half a minute.

Also, lost 30s on a poor route choice at 24, and 30s at 26 after I moseyed right past the flag. I was distracted at the time by a woman who was running almost as fast as me and wearing the same Ragnar shirt; she said "hey nice shirt" and I said "hey you too" and I temporarily forget about navigating and such.

Running warm up/down 9:13 [2] 1.04 mi (8:52 / mi) +10m 8:36 / mi

Note

Right knee somewhat aggravated after the last day of Boston Sprint Camp, but it's already feeling better after a day of rest. Seems weird because it was fine all through Team Trials and the first three days of BSC. Current hypothesis - caused by running on pavement in spikes, which occurred only on Sunday.

Prelim/setup @ Franklin Park. A decent race, but a couple small (5s) mistakes overrunning 3 and 14; also 10s on 8 when I momentarily transmogrified 7-8 into 8-9. This is a really fun venue for sprinting; it's difficult to be completely clean in such a tricky forested park with lots of rock and such around.

Final @ Franklin Park. Uff da lol @ 8. This race I was akin to a guy who jumps out a 10th story window to see if he can fly, says to himself "so far so good" all the way down. I hit the ground at 8.

Evening race @ North Point Park. Not a good race for me; I was caught by one trap for ~30s, even though I thought I had figured out which corner to go to. Also lost ~25s on a couple poor route choices. Michael got me by 7s, and Giacomo ran 12:08 but it turned out he had reached across a impassable barrier (which saved at least 30s) so was DQ'd and naturally we ridiculed him without mercy.

Really fun course and I felt good physically. Finally starting to emerge from the post-TT lazy hangover / rest-on-laurels phase and feel like racing and competing again.
