RGFrenchman Spring classic. Great course by Ethan! Started early so as to avoid the worst of the heat, though it was still low to mid 70s at 9:30 with no relief from the sun. But it didn't affect me as on the previous day, so that's a win. Made only one real mistake on 4, a tricky control in the vague, flat area. Took a bearing from near the rocky ground to the W and thought I had come to the shallow reentrant E of the flag, when I was actually in the one N. It also appears my route choice 7-8 may have been suboptimal.
Got the Bonesaw by eight seconds! With the caveat that he ran in 10-15 degrees more heat than I did, but I'll take it. I think the number of times I've beaten Eric in a race longer than an hour can still be counted on possibly one hand and certainly two - but now that's twice in a row.
I looked up our previous event here in March 2019, and my pace (actual) at that one was 6:11/km - so only a little bit faster than now, which is nice to see. The temps were much cooler during that race, though it was also 3.5 more km, so maybe about a wash.
