Middle distance race (UK Orienteering League 2) Tankersley again, very cold + snow, heli, lycra, gloves and a hat for half of it, much better than yesterday, north lines actually pointing to the top of the map and it was A4, although still didn't enjoy the 1:7500. Legs still felt pretty worn out from last night but had decided I was going to go hard as practice for one day after another type thing, Owens started 2 minutes behind me but I only saw him once and was confident I was still 2 mins ahead. Started off a bit shaky to one, bearing took me to the right but picked up the marsh (which had become for of a pond) then relatively clean to 13, not running at great speed but was reading the land and contours quite well at points, then to 14 was way to indecisive and spent ages picking a route when I should of just got one with it, then good through to 21, then picked up some elite in green who was going about the same pace as me, chopping and changing places with him till 25, I took a more direct route to 26 and got to the control circle quicker but then got confused and only just punched before him he sat just off me round 27, 28 then had to haul my fat ass up the hill to 29, legs were pretty dead so was happy to cruise downhill to 30 and fin.
Positives: reading contours well, speed was half decent despite being tired.
To work on: map reading at speed, bearings
Results: Very pleased, 2 mins behind Will, Jonny (C), Oli Johnson, 3 mins ahead of Aidan :D beat Owens,
Song in head: colours-group love (off FIFA 12)
