Canadian Ski Marathon Day 2

Overnight at the gold camp was absolutely FREEZING, -26°C with windchill -32°C. Even in my sleeping bag rate to -40°C and wearing 3 layers I was so cold. Once I got up and ate my oatmeal I got a little better but when I changed into my ski gear and left the gold camp I froze right back up.

Started finally warming up after around the first section except for my first two toes. I figured if they didn't warm up by the next checkpoint I'd take a look at them. Well they didn't, so I took my boot off and they were warm but still completely numb. I could still move them so I thought whatever and kept going.

After the usual brutal toboggan run, I got the the second last checkpoint and realized that I had to motor to make the cut-off for the next checkpoint. Made it with about 30 minutes to spare so took some time at the last checkpoint. And left 10 minutes before it closed. Super chill last section cause I was way tired from the previous one. Stuffed my face with a Mars Bar halfway through which gave me enough energy to finish it up.

Really nice to have mom and Tash waiting for me at the finish. Very brutal year for the CSM but very happy that I completed it and VERY happy that I don't have to do this again until next year! :D

Canadian Ski Marathon Day 1

Funny, 10 hours of skiing but there really isn't much to say about it. Weather was quite cold so the snow was sticky. Had my skin skis which were great because I didn't have to wax at all! Put my watch into UltraTrac mode so not only did it last me the whole day but I had 45% battery to spare.

Been feeling a little sick, a little stressed, a little tired, and very busy, I decided to take a bit of time. Especially before the ski marathon
