Orienteering 4:00:00 [3]
I dragged a rugged outdoorsy classmate with me to this meet on a brand new map, which I decided I liked quite a lot, although I could have done with less deadfall. Despite a dumb but quickly discovered mistake right out of the start, a missing first control bag we spent quite a lot of time "looking" for, and a biggish error on the way to #2, I thought I would at last finish a Blue course, b/c B, who insisted on doing that over Green, is a bit more stubborn than I am. But it was not to be. We made a non-thinking mistake on #9 and then did some sort of totally dumb wander looking for #10. After bailing to the road and walking on it for a bit as part of an alternate plan to find #10, I decided, against B's wishes, that we ought to go back along the road b/c I was highly discouraged and also afraid another hour+ spent finding the last 3-4 controls would have had a search party dispatched. B still insists we would have found #11 and #12 (and, obviously, the go control) with no problem after finding #10...
So, I still suck. Not that there was any reason I wouldn't, but...
