Note

Walked with Jon in Leonard Springs Nature Park, where we saw waterfalls, a wetland, a snake, and fossils and geodes (vugs?) in some of the limestone underfoot.

Orienteering 2:38:00 [3] 4.85 km (32:35 / km)

Very slow, as usual, even tho cloudfuls of mosquitoes were attacking at every step. Some control descriptions/locations questionable in that indicated features were not actually mapped ones, but none were too hard to find*. Had been hoping for much more challenging (in a different way) and interesting course to go with this fantastic map. Much hesitation on way to #3. Wandered around both #5 and #6 during long episode of low focus and motivation.

*Thanks, evidently, to the strenuous efforts of mikeminium and a small adjustment by jtorranc (see their logs, and Adam's, for a detailed discussion on misplaced controls). Too bad one or two constructively critical volunteer-consultants with more orienteering experience were either unavailable or unsolicited, as they might have prevented the easily-avoided problems with the control descriptions, placements, and circles and encouraged better and Redder exploitation of the map's possibilities. Not that I'm being critical of anyone here, given that other than helping Doug P out with one or two meets at Ransburg, I have not been much of an ICO volunteer myself.
