weight:76.8kg shoes: Sportiva Mutant

Decided not to travel to Three Shires. Combination of lack of sleep and tired legs did for me. A case of too much too soon since holiday. Used the opportunity to explore the east side of Chop Gate, via William Beck, but legs just wouldn't move. I then took a terrible line down the adjacent valley through deep bracken where I managed to spear my thigh with a 5cm shard of heather. It was totally embedded in my leg and was desperately painful to remove. I took this a sign to return back to the car and cut my losses.

Castle Howard Loop from upper car park. Felt I needed to run after missing out yesterday and with Three Shires on Saturday. Took is really steady but not sure I had it in me to run any faster. Also, path was horribly overgrown with nettles - I stubbornly piled through rather than turn back before finding an escape route into an adjacent field full of angry cows. Multiple nettle stings made for an uncomfortable, restless night.

Running (Local Run) 49:37 [3] 10.0 km (4:58 / km) +45m 4:51 / km
weight:77kg shoes: Inov-8 X-Talon 200

Strensall Common 'recovery' run after yesterday's effort. I think I might sit out tomorrow (just as well as forecast is shocking) and run on Thursday instead.

Running long (Hilly Run) 2:00:00 [4] 18.4 km (6:31 / km) +674m 5:31 / km
weight:77.2kg shoes: Inov-8 X-Talon 200

Chop Gate Loop (incorporating descent to Cock Howe plantation). Couldn't decided whether to run in a long or short sleeve but ended up forgetting both so had to run with nothing more than my Inov8 boil-in-the-bag cagoule (plus shorts, shoes and socks, obviously). After the steep pull from Chop Gate decided to drop down into Cock Howe plantation, which is the way I used to do this run before forgetting how good it was. The rest of the run was mostly very enjoyable, apart from getting cold during the occasional squally shower. Could do with another a week or two to get fit, but decided to go for Three Shires this saturday. What's the worst that can happen?
