Orienteering 1:09:25 [3] 3.64 km (19:04 / km) +85m 17:05 / km
shoes: INOV8 Bare Grips

I did registration at Landahl this morning, then went out to try the orange course, but messed up big time. Really bad woods, with amur honeysuckle gone wild, and slick and muddy. After beating my way through the woods, I decided this was not much fun, and came in. Boo hoo. Better next week.

9Round 32:00 [5]
ahr:115 max:172 shoes: Skechers GoFit

A really hard workout today. Lots of Burpees, and stuff in pushup and plank positions.

Dog Walking 32:48 [2] 2.11 km (15:33 / km) +17m 14:57 / km
ahr:98 max:139

After recycling, we went to the Riverfront Trail and walked to the road and back. Nice, except for a brisk south wind, which made the return trip more pleasant. Only issue was someone with their dog off-leash and running wild. Then Elray and I went shopping at Orschlen and bought kibble.

The best part was that it was warm enough that my fenix managed to finally update to central time.

Note

We renewed our passports today. I should be ready to go to Leavenworth in March, and we will be ready for the Yukon later this summer.

Note

I received a fenix 5 for Christmas, and I finally managed to make the gpx file and figure out how to download it to Routegadget. I couldn't get the fenix to work correctly on Friday and Saturday, but I did get a route for Sunday and figured out how to draw the route and see my mistakes. This should help.

9Round 32:00 [4]
ahr:105 max:130

Lots of coughing and congestion last night, so little sleep. Round 2 had me holding a medicine ball overhead while doing stuff, then at Round 7 we held weights out at the sides for knees and kicks on the bag, and out front for kickbacks. My shoulders were a bit sore from last night's session with Jared, so I dogged it a little.

Lot s of pushups and lunges today.

Workout 1:00:00 [3]
shoes: GORUN5

Weekly workout with my trainer. I did really well on the agility drills tonight. Also, lots of balance, the big ropes, and ended up with a new wrinkle on the air bike. Twelve reps on each limb. I was really beat when I finished that one. Now I am really tired.

9Round 32:00 [3]
ahr:100 max:117 shoes: Skechers GoFit

My heart rate didn't go up so much, but I thought I was working pretty hard, nonethe less. The last round was tough--plank jacks, planks wall touches, plank twists, and plank butt kickers. A long three minutes.

It was really cold, about four degrees when I got finished. I planned to go to Mack Porter and do the loop that is mostly in the trees so I could stay out of the wind. Both gates were chained and locked, so Elray and I went back to Lions Club Park for about a ten minute romp.

9Round 35:30 [4]
ahr:105 max:128 shoes: Skechers GoFit

Bailey added an extra round of sparring with the mitts. A little breathless, since I hadn't been there since last Wednesday.

Then I took Elray to the Lions Club Park for her destination, and I walked and she sniffed all the bunny trails and rolled around in the snow. It was about 13 degrees with a brisk wind, so I was eager to get back to the car, but she wasn't.

Orienteering race 2:09:00 [3] 3.8 km (33:57 / km) +100m 30:00 / km
shoes: INOV8 Bare Grips

I finished, but did a really poor job of navigation. The woods were beautiful, and the weather was really cold. A damp cold. I was a bit north on 2, and wandered instead of reading the map. Then, on 4, I went right by it, but didn't see it. This time, my brain worked enough to relocate right away and navigate back to the control. Then, again on 5, my brain stopped working. I wandered around, and almost thought about quitting again, when I realized where I was, and successfully completed the course. What I got out of the weekend, besides lots of frustration--my physical conditioning was pretty good. I need more practice, and be more serious about local meets. Also, I need to not get distracted by others so much, and should just READ THE MAP. I know how to do this. I have been slacking off on yoga. The breathing and meditation could be helpful. I did much better in N. Kentucky on much messier maps.
