The most running I have done in quite a while. Feeling ok, but still have lots of congestion. I am happy with my pace. Since I ran a bit early, I got to wake up all the controls.

A fun long course set by Fritz. Thank you Fritz. He always has a few tricks, and he did here. I actually did a fair amount of running at my slow slogging pace. A really good time. Navigation was good.

Still congested, but got in a good workout. Lots of legs.

After recycling, we went to the Riverside Trail, and walked down and back to the road. Beautiful day, that rare one with little wind in Kansas City, and the autumn leaf display. Although none of it compares with the spectacle at our house.

Seemed harder today, but some of that is probably residual congestion. otherwise, I feel pretty good and thought this was a good workout. Also glad that my legs weren't too sore after yesterday's kick cancer.

Dog Walking 19:42 [1] 1.26 km (15:38 / km) +3m 15:27 / km

Took Elray to Mack Porter during a light rain. We did the woodsy loop and walked out to the ballfields, then back on the road.

Workout 1:00:00 [3]
ahr:91 max:120 shoes: INOV-8 Trail Talon 225

Lots of balance and agility. The balance seemed more difficult than usual. I wonder if that is because I was sick.

Today was the annual Kick Cancer day. Each round was some type of repetitive kicking. Plank kicks, crab kicks, and donkey kicks get really tiresome after three minutes. I am still congested, but feeling so much better.

Took Elray out for a destination. We parked near the bridge at Mack Porter, went over the bridge, and took the east loop at Jesse James. On the way back, a bunch of guys were playing disc golf, so we stopped and watched a bit, since Elray is a devout Frisbyterian. One of the guys came over, she sniffed his hand, sniffed the other hand holding the disc, and then sat down, puppy style, to get petted.

When I woke up this morning, I felt much better. A bit sore still around the shoulders and neck, and still somewhat congested, but the overall pain was gone. Hope this trends.

The top of my trapezius, and into my neck, on the left side is really sore. Odd, since last week it was the right side. Anyway, I took an Advil (Ibuprophren hasn't been helping much) and went to the gym. Not all out, but not bad. The CHOW was two punches and an up-down. I did 41, but it wasn't all out. It did feel good to be back at the gym.

Dog Walking 31:22 [1] 2.18 km (14:23 / km) +28m 13:31 / km
ahr:100 max:123 shoes: INOV-8 Trail Talon 225

Elray and I went to Jesse James Park. I'm trying to stay extra warm and not too much exertion until I finish getting over this bug Bob gave me. Elray did lots of sniffing, and I didn't do any slogging--only walking. The weather was nice--cool, but sunny, not as much wind as usual. Very few people out there. I worked on my shoulder exercises a bit while walking.

After a long drive the night before, we had the long race at Bishop Lake, MI, in the Brighton Recreation area. While I messed up yesterday by making a stupid mistake, today I was just not good enough for this map. Very intricate terrain. I spent almost the entire time trying to find control 1, and never did. My route choice and attackpoint were ok, I think, but I still couldn't find 1. After two relocations, I finally headed to a trail and back to the finish. A very sad outcome, which shows me I need more focused and thoughtful practice.

After the race, Sharon and I drove back to the Detroit airport. Direct flights coming and going. How could it be better? Bob picked me up at the airport with a Papa Murphy's pizza--my favorite Hawaian. We got home, I baked, and opened a bottle of wine, and watched the Chiefs' game. My first drink since Mary Ann and I celebrated birthdays back in early September. It was great to be home again.
