JK 2014 Relays. Mens short 1st leg 3.6km 115m.

First leg so went off in the mass start. Really dodgy sprinting in a pretty large train through tussocks, streams and rocks but made it to the start kite in one piece. Hit every control spot on really, tried not to get distracted by others and handed over to simon in a respectable position. Speed lacking and very little energy to really push. 2nd on gaffel, team finished 16th.

JK 2014 Day 3 on Llangynidr. M16 A 7km 125m.

Not the nicest of days, rain, fog and lightning an' all. Wasn't really apprehensive before starting but wanted a decent run. 1 and 2 were hit cleanly. 3 was my nightmere leg. Bearing slightly off and features seemed to match and went off into the mist... where I stumbled across no. 4. 3 was 40 m or so north. Nice from 3 - 7, using the contours well and big features. 8 just slightly to the right but soon corrected. 11 was the log leg and I just was too hesitant when I was around 30 - 40 m from the control. Clean to the finish but again sloppy errors were very annoying.

JK Day 2 Merthyr Common. M16 A 7km 170m.

I had done quiet a lot of map work on this area and was confident and eager to get out there. Had a really good start, not rushing out of the start and got a nice flow going from 1 - 8. I originally set out with the mentality of picking off major features but I ended up using and relying more on my bearings. 9 was just horrendous. It was the longest and arguably hardest leg on the course and I must have come within 15m of the pit but just sailed past as I couldn't match up the terrain and features. Significant time loss here. I recall a rather loud shout of mine "bollocks!" as I left the control just because it spoilt what would have been a great run. Clean from there on in, composing myself for the next long one and solid into the finish. Not a bad effort but so frustrating.

JK 2014 Sprint at Swansea Uni. M16 2.4km 50m.

Not really much of a sprinter, so wasn't expecting anything quick or to be near the top. Decent navigation, just sloppy at 14 and 15; coming out of 14 in the wrong direction and then getting annoyed and hesitating at 15. Dodgy route choice to 17 as I just didn't see the underpass. Lost probably 30 - 40 seconds in all and just lacking leg speed for this type of racing. Fun though.
