British Middles - Brereton Spurs

On home chasers soil so I knew what to expect. Early start so was focussing on running my own race. Good to 1 and 2. 3 cut through to the second path and hit 3 well. 4 through to 6 was nice and smooth. Cocked up 7 just couldn't fit ground to map and went off to another spur before realising and sprinting up to the control - very annoying. 8 I had already passed but came in from a different angle and just missed it, having to cut back from a depression. Clean through to 13 where drifted W and had to cut across the path. 14 hit the path and came back up. 16 faffed up on the spur. Clean into finish with Tom. Scrappy orienteering and tough going, was lacking something physically. :(

British Sprints - Heat 1.1

Set out really well spiking 1 through to 6 with no real time losses and solid route choices. Wobble at 7 missing a path but relocated well. Clean into the finish but then I realised I had completely missed 20. Gutting to miss punch in a heat when I ran a good solid race. I just get too complacent in the latter stages of courses.

British Sprints - B1 Final

Ended up in the B final and just wanted a clean race. Hit 1 well. Overshot the small passage into 2 and lost a good 10 seconds. Fast and smooth through to 12. Stupid exit out of 13 but ended up hitting 14 well. Good through to 21 with some good route choices and planning ahead. 21 just hesitated checking which side of the wall the control was. Clean to finish. All in all was really disappointed not getting through but at least this race got me a bit of confidence back.

Same old nonsense of p.e fitness tests. 13.6 on bleep test. Shocking really but due to the massive indian I had last night things were... disturbed and I kind of needed the loo from the word go! Not good, but twas respectable so i'll take it.

200, 400, 800, 400, 200 and not wanting too big a session ended with 400, 800, 200. Out onto Jubilee field for this, alright place for it to be honest.

No sprint training tonight as it was postponed. Took a run out to the back fields up the lane. A few laps round and back through st mary's. I didn't want to completely miss the opportunity to orienteer so I took out an old Wildwood map too.

Cath's 5 hills route. Took it as a tempo and the beginning of autumn/winter training. Took the map out as I didn't know the route completely. I felt strong through out and taking the hills steady and getting into a solid rhythm was good. Tried to let the legs loose on the downhills and nothing is hurting too much which is always nice. A tad uncertain in places as the bracken was very high. Would have wanted a sub 24min run but with this being my first proper training run in basically a month I'll settle for it.
