Good warm up

orienteering race 1:31:40 [5] 9.0 km (10:11 / km)

BAOC Longmoor -really good race at different side of area and forest in prime condition, top class planning.
But its a funny old sport......

I don't really know what to say about the race maybe the splits will say it
No 1 took 15.37 which meant I was dead last in 50th place and 6.5 min behind the bloke in 49th and 9 mins behind the guy in 40th. Adam took 3.17
No 2 -5 went from good to indifferent
No 6 took 11.10 in 49th but I did beat the guy in 50th by 2mins but was 4.5 mins behined the guy in 40th Adam took 3.31. So by this stage he was leading in 16.23, Mark was 11th in 23.36 and I was 45th in 44.52
The rest of the course (7-18) took 46.48 compared with Mark 45.34 mins. He was tiring but that's encouraging.

At the start the map seemed very black and I could not make out the shape of the land and misinterpreted the veg mapping but then it just clicked. I did mis- read some paths throughout the run -perhaps the mapping is aging or it changes quickly?

I was distracted just before I started but that's an excuse. I did see other runners later which helps keep up the pace and I chose less adventurous routes and perhaps the course was more straightforward

But sometimes its a funny old sport...…..
