Saturday Oct 8 #

After a pretty rotten nights sleep woke up feeling pretty grotty, sneezing etc. Some might say a cold but perhaps 'man flu' might be more accurate. I guess not a big surprise with change of routine. Had planed to go to orienteering both days this weekend but competitions will just have to wait

off road 44:43 [2] 3.5 mi (12:47 / mi)

Sunny outside and a bit housebound so went for a flat potter on Purdown felt pretty lousy at the start but a bit better later so did a bit more than intemded

Friday Oct 7 #

flat efforts 43:30 [5] 3.0 mi (14:30 / mi)

Dentist and then Downs what a way to start the day -Pyramid 30 secs to 3 mins max 2 mins rest. Too quick on early ones so hard work later. Only breathing (lack thereof) to moan about - other aches and pains fine. Now for some breakfast (brunch)

Started to feel quite grim pm and flopped front of the TV. Did catch up on 'the science of the very small' at the third attempt. (Others ended in napping!)

Thursday Oct 6 #

off road 1:02:00 [3] 5.5 mi (11:16 / mi)

In a day dominated by fussing about car MOT/ Service an old gits run as it should be...........Ashton Court in the sun, not too far and not too fast but enough to make you feel you had done something. On the flip side foot a bit sore and could feel ankle -knee has not swell up and no bigger issue than normal.

Wednesday Oct 5 #

1 AM

off road 10:00 [2] 1.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Warm up
2 AM

orienteering race 1:14:40 [5] 6.8 km (10:59 / km)

BAOC Long Valley South - Blue course -nice day to be out in the forest, found it quite challenging. Foot sore, banged knee half way around, ankle hurt towards the end -definitely some scope for physical improvement.....
and also technical - no plan to control 1 but plenty to see as bumbled along, no 2 was 'dodgy' I suspect gorse has changed since mapping - long leg 8-9 was a bit of a disaster- no real plan- eventually chose an inferior route and executed badly, missing bike tracks and not seeing semi-open near control. --(~4 mins down on this leg) -really a win for the planner
.....'I have a plan I am following the plan.....'

Tuesday Oct 4 #

1 AM

flat efforts 41:47 [5] 3.0 mi (13:56 / mi)

Purdown 8x2 mins with 90 secs had not been looking forward to this and indeed found it difficult and really fatigued at the end. Best comment is that I did actually complete.
2 AM

off road (headlight) 1:04:00 [3] 6.0 mi (10:40 / mi)

BOK run from the Salutation, nice run through and out of Blaise. Struggling along at the back trying to keep up with Clare House -better pace than of late -really enjoyed the evening -Blaise always gives good training

Monday Oct 3 #

off road 2:01:18 [3] 11.0 mi (11:02 / mi)

Drop dead gorgeous sunny day so decided to run coast path S from the Lake grounds. Pottered along enjoying the day, view and my thoughts and as a result missed the turn around point and bingo I was in Clevedon. Whilst I had certainly not intended to run anything like 2 hours at this time in the training as tit was 64 mins at the turn this now seemed likely! Took a sort break, concentrated more and retraced steps rather that golf course etc. Quite pleased with run back and even more pleased with ice cream.

Sunday Oct 2 #

off road 1:02:00 [3] 5.0 mi (12:24 / mi)

Oldbury court and a bit of purdown, iconic autumn morning run as the sun burned away the mist. Really nice to run with Laura
