orienteering 1:00:00 [2] 4.0 km (15:00 / km)

Went to SYO training afternoon at Cranklow Woods - good format - loads of kids, beginners, coaches etc. (no usual suspects) and I was clearly expected to join in with the SYO members with post exercise analysis with the newcomers.
Reinforced my opinion that there maybe more alternatives to BOK obsession with as many events of whatever quality as possible.
Nice afternoon - useful to think about 1;7500 - clearly scope for me to do more in technical preparation for certain races -perhaps night event at Ramscombe?

off road 1:07:00 [3] 5.5 mi (12:11 / mi)

Ran with Pete up Crookes Peak etc. A good idea and session. Pete absolutely slaughtered me on the ups. My breathing was poor -not sure if that's because my breathing is poor or not over cold -either way plenty of opportunity for improvement

off road 57:12 [3] 5.0 mi (11:26 / mi)

Swineford -delightful sunny day. Had initially intended a longer option but found last couple of days quite tough so settled for the standard -race course -Round hill route - and indeed struggled at the start. (35.30 to top )However felt better as run progressed and pushed on during the route down -quite pleased with the final time

off road 12:00 [2] 1.0 mi (12:00 / mi)

Warm up
2 AM

orienteering race 1:06:01 [5] 6.0 km (11:00 / km)

Wilverley enclosure -part of Avon Water map in the south of the New Forest -quite a lot of bracken. 60 mins score a bit heavy legged and stopping early - did one leg through forest where I stopped at an unmarked vegetation boundary-massively short and after hunting bailed out and was wrong for next one -this leg took 9.31. Got back into the race and crossed road at 40.28 -running quite hard and effectively now but recrossed at 58. Ran straight back mostly along forest road with army runner keeping me honest. So a good session.
Really need to concentrate much better - the leg I went wrong on was a really poor choice in the heavy bracken when there was a viable track alternaive with an attackpoint. Quite fun to do a score event for a change

flat efforts 41:00 [5] 3.0 mi (13:40 / mi)

Purdown 8 x 2 mins with 90 secs - more consistent than previous -still a struggle
2 AM

off road (headlight) 1:06:00 [3] 6.5 mi (10:09 / mi)

BOK run from the White Lion, down the river to Eastville park -diagonally back through Purdown and through park on near side of river - not too much climb and group stayed together well

Monday Oct 10, 2016 #

off road 1:19:47 [3] 7.0 mi (11:24 / mi)

Looking for a flat run, did not want to push - so went NE up and back along the Frome. Not done this for a while - good option

Sunday Oct 9, 2016 #

off road 56:45 [2] 4.5 mi (12:37 / mi)

Oldbury Court- probably as much as I could manage today -fueled with Lemsip. Really nice sunny morning -shame not to be at an event
