Note

In Sheffield visiting Laura and Evie for a couple of days. Does a tour of IKEA or laps of the baby pool count as training?

Thursday Oct 4, 2018 #

off road 3:08:00 [3] 14.5 mi (12:58 / mi) +1000m 10:41 / mi

Similar but different route with Mark, so lots of climb. Felt quite chipper after 2 hours, probably the result of a few light days. I was sort of assuming that when the route steepened out of Cwncarn we would walk, but no we got into first gear and ground straight up Twmbarlwm. We both ran (after a fashion) to the top. Wrecked.

The mist cleared and reminded again of the beautiful South Wales countryside. Great thing to do...….. but definitely wrecked...…..

off road 1:20:00 [2] 7.0 mi (11:26 / mi)

A potter round the Portbury loop with Pete, Jo, and Sandy -this is a really nice route on a sunny, a bit more overgrown than expected. Probably need to run a bit harder to get much training benefit

Note

Pre-arranged trip to Podiatry clinc today. She suggests 48hrs before running

Monday Oct 1, 2018 #

off road 1:00:00 [2] 5.0 mi (12:00 / mi)

MOT day so late pm/ early evening run around Ashton Court in the sunshine.
My foot hat hurt a bit after the orienteering (a new one this) but was ok at Wootton but was a definite inconvenience today -so turned into a bit of a potter but that's absolutely fine as good to be out

Sunday Sep 30, 2018 #

off road 2:13:42 [3] 11.0 mi (12:09 / mi)

CW south from Wootton and back. Did not go as far as Hawkesbury Upton, rather stopped short where the gradient slackens at a time of 68.30 mins. This meant that there were three hills, including the beast out of Wootton and back up through the wood late in the run.
Pleased I did this as could easily have found an excuse not to bother today

Warm up

orienteering race 1:31:34 [5] 7.7 km (11:54 / km)

Welsh League Brown course in the sunshine at Pwll Du, really good race good variety in legs and lots of choice, seemed to be a bit heavier going that I expected. With the new map I had really hoped to have a clean run. Lost nearly 4 mins at number 5 a short leg. Misread map, came off wrong re-entrant and clearly did not take enough care with the compass -just did not fit. Recovered after this ok but lost time at 20 & 21. Did not really have a plan, tired and slow to react, probably lost getting on for 3 mins at each.

Run sounds like a bit of a disaster but not really much went really quite well. Just needed a bit more discipline. (Pwll Du =Norway without trees?)
