orienteering race 51:16 [4] 5.4 km (9:30 / km)

SWOC local event on Sugar Lump -really nice place to run, pretty clean but a bit more offline on a number of controls than I would have expected. Had hoped to be a bit quicker as woods in great condition, in the open although bracken was dead still some quite heavy going.
Really enjoyed trip
3 AM

Note

Post race walked up Sugar Lump with Charlie and Who, turned into nice balmy spring day -lots of folk mostly families had the same idea

….and coffee and cake

Blaise run from the car park, not run much in the last few days and my knees were bad. I just could not get going and quite shocked by what is actually a terrible time - but quite a nice day and I did at least get out

off road 15:00 [2] 0.5 mi (29:59 / mi)

Warm up
2 AM

orienteering race 37:00 [5] 3.4 km (10:53 / km)

Compassport cup Green Men in Quantock south don't really know what to say about this - I knew before starting that I needed to run fast as course had been described as trivial - first six were easy mostly in open ran quite fast but lost seconds at 3 and 4 where I was flag blind. Then I misread the map and went down the hill into a parallel area of horrid green forest, eventually realised but then stopped ridiculously short on 8. After which I was ok and actually had fastest split on uphill leg but 10 mins lost in total so a long way down. Mark took 24 mins which was actually pretty good.

I was quite upset and disappointed at the end of the race
