Running warm up/down 55:33 [2] 10.7 km (5:11 / km)
shoes: Nike Streak 6 (Flymesh Upper)

8 AM

Running race (Park Run ) 16:54 [5] 5.0 km (3:23 / km)
ahr:179 max:187 shoes: Nike Streak 6 (Flymesh Upper)

New 5k PB! :D A mate from the Flyers offered to pace me for 17 minutes and that was really helpful for the first couple KMs because I would have gone out way too hard because it felt quite easy for the first KM. Looking forward to getting some quality reps sessions in to really work on that speed and efficiency. Hopefully if I can get 8 weeks of solid training this time will slowly improve! (Weather was pretty muggy today so I think a nice crisp morning might see a few seconds off this time).

Note

Secretly bought a pair of the new Saucony Kinvara 8s today because after a few runs in the Nike Pegasus 33s I still felt really clumsy and slow. Haven't told girlfriend yet...

My Nike Streak 6's that I'm planning on using for speed work arrived today and I took them out for a little roll. (on a side note my calves are almost recovered enough to resume proper training! :D) They feel excellent! So fast!

cycling 1:37:56 [3] 45.9 km (2:08 / km) +339m 2:03 / km

Same ride as friday. Really lucky that I have the ability to cross train on the bike while I'm waiting on my injury to completely heal.

Running 17:43 [3] 3.93 km (4:30 / km)
(injured)

First run back from injuring both my calves last saturday doing my threshold efforts. Running in the new Nike Pegasus 33 and I'm kinda regretting buying them and hoping that they soften up a little bit with wear. They feel heavy as hell, the heal feels like a massive wedge making it really hard to mid-foot strike and the upper feels really stiff and thick. On the plus (or minus) side, I think they'll last a really long time.

The calves felt alright, started to hurt a little bit towards the end and I gave them a good icing afterwards. Interesting heckle today as I was finishing my run. I was wearing my CIS representative singlet from highschool XC which has a big 14 on the front and back. I hear a bloke yelling out of a rusted out shitbox "OI Number 14! .... FAAGGOOOOOOOOOOTTTT!". Direct and to the point. I like his style.
