Running hills (fwark) 49:57 [5] 9.14 km (5:28 / km)
shoes: Nike Streak 6 (Flymesh Upper)

Felt awful. It seems like a bit of a lottery now whether I feel amazing or potato. Throat feels puffy and stomach felt awful. 10 * king edward sprints. Absolutely wasted now.

Note

ISOM2017 came out recently. A few interesting things to note. They seem fairly set on 1:15000 being the standard map scale which I find a bit disappointing. I would have liked to have seen a clause saying something along the lines of "in complex terrain, a map scale which improves legibility should be used" but I can't see anything to that effect in the document. I liked this bit though, seems like a bit of an admission that bigger scales (1:10000) improve legibility in complex terrain: "1:10000 is always recommended for the youngest age groups where the capacity of reading complex maps is not fully developed."

They seem overly worried about big pieces of paper, and not worried enough about how easy it is to read the map. I think they should get the hint when half of the elite field is running around with magnifying glasses on their compasses.

Running 1:01:18 [3] 13.8 km (4:27 / km) +18m 4:25 / km
shoes: Nike Pegasus 33

Just a nice easy run between rain showers. Happy to have my lungs back and not be wheezing and dizzy on easy runs! And my hips seems to have responded well to the dry needling I received on friday although I wouldn't describe it as completely painless by any stretch.

Orienteering race 22:10 [3] 4.92 km (4:30 / km)
shoes: Nike Elite 9

Night-O champs. Torch was not very bright.

Running warm up/down 20:00 [2] 2.5 km (8:00 / km)

Running tempo 1:10:00 [4] 16.0 km (4:23 / km)
shoes: Nike Pegasus 33

7*5 mins @ 3:25-30 w/ 1 min rest between: on the treadmill with a bit of incline which I've heard makes it more realistic. Very tough to get through that on a treadmill but it was absolutely bucketing down outside and I didn't want my phone to die like last time! I think I can officially say I'm no longer sick, I just have a lingering sore throat and slightly runny nose.

Running 1:29:50 [3] 21.2 km (4:14 / km) +301m 3:57 / km
shoes: Nike Elite 9

Paced the half marathon. Ended up feeling alright today which is weird because I felt very weak yesterday at work. Ended up being an incredibly frustrating experience because I was essentially pacing noone because the wind and course was adding quite a bit of difficulty to the course which meant 90 mins was almost a top 10 time. I could see the leaders just ahead of me at 12km and it was frustrating to have to just look at them with the knowledge that I would have had a very good chance of winning given their time. But I suppose you can't race all the time.

Running warm up/down 10:00 [2] 2.0 km (5:00 / km)
