Running (Strava) 1:29:44 [3] 21.4 km (4:12 / km) +58m 4:08 / km

Was planning on 90 minutes today - ended up running a bit more than a marathon. Didn't go sub 3, but that's ok. I didn't prepare properly.

Prior to running, I had a long Lavazza and half of Hank's banana. On route, I only had one Guu, and took very little water. Textbook Innes preparation.

...and then the timing issues! - again.
-----------
This segment was Railpath - Sorauren - High Park Blvd - High Park - Colborne Lodge - Lakeshore - west just past Royal York - return.

At about the mouth of the Humber, I decided that I was going to go for it. Felt very strong and smooth. It was going to be a simple out and back - probably to Port Credit. Then I noticed my low battery. So I turned around just past Royal York and hooved it home.

On the way back, I called Thanh and told her to turn on my shitty Garmin and put it and a glass of water on the deck. Got home with 1% left on my phone...and yelled to plug in my phone and I'll be back in 25-30 minutes.

Was cursing as I waited for my watch to find satellites...Thanh didn't turn it on.

A sweaty shirtless guy in short shorts pacing back and forth on the sidewalk, swearing a bit and talking to no one in particular is a terrible look - luckily my neighbours know me well.

Actually, any sweaty shirtless guy in short shorts is a terrible look.

Edit: Any guy wearing short shorts - sweating, shirtless or otherwise is a terrible look.

Running (Forerunner 305) 26:57 [3] 6.3 km (4:17 / km) +30m 4:11 / km

I wasn't sure how charged up my Forerunner was, and it had been flaming out at about 45-60 minutes recently, so the plan was a short loop back to the house so my phone could charge up a bit.

Railpath - Sorauren - Queen West (Parkdale) - O'Hara - Lansdowne - St. Helen's - Bloor - shimmy home.

Still felt strong. Should have asked for more water.

Running (Strava) 1:05:06 [4] 13.8 km (4:43 / km) +6m 4:42 / km

Plan was a similar out and back like before, or maybe just stick along the Lakeshore and Über home.

Railpath - Sorauren - High Park Blvd - Parkside - southeast High Park - Colborne Lodge - Lakeshore - west to mouth of Humber - multiple loops down there to take in water.

Lack of water and whatnot kicked my ass...so I decided to do multiple loops from the Humber to the Palais Royale until I got to 43 - there was a forceful water fountain that I kept returning to. (Time included water intake).

Man, it was a slog. Pace got slower and slower and slower. Took in water 3 times in last 5 km. Loops became shorter and shorter - I was trying to finish at a smoothie bar just west of Palais Royale.

Bloody phone died again - typical.

This time I kept running and probably tallied about 43km total.

Total accounted for:

41.5 km - 3:01:47

Told the smoothie guy I'd come back to pay him. Smoothie was yummy. Brownie tasted like dirt - should've had the Clif bar.

Old friend randomly showed up at the smoothie bar and lent me his phone. Called Thanh to send me an Über.

That was that.

Running (Timed with Strava) 14:57 [1] 3.1 km (4:49 / km) +8m 4:46 / km

Short run to pick up our car at a friend's house.

Both Thanh and I were feeling extra convivial Saturday night, so some extra libations were consumed.

Anabel and Hank had extra sand in their hair - lots of extra.

Running (timed with Strava) 1:09:00 [3] 16.4 km (4:12 / km) +79m 4:07 / km

Railpath - Sorauren - Dowling - Lakeshore - Ontario Place - Lakeshore - Parkside - High Park Blvd - Sorauren - Railpath.

Subtracted a minute or so taking some snaps of Ontario Place.

New favourite sprint terrain in Toronto.

Oddly, for the most part the old theme park from the 80's is still accessible.

Including the 'Wilderness Adventure' ride:

For those who are familiar with the place:

The numerous outdoor and indoor bridges linking the Cinesphere and other bulb-like structures are still accessible. Molson Amphitheatre and Echo Beach common areas are adjacent and accessible. A new park to the east links the waterfront trail, and has some rock outcropping (man-made), and other interesting little areas. There are 2 bridges to cross Lakeshore Blvd to access the Exhibition Grounds and the area surrounding BMO Field.

And, to the north of that...

There is bridge access over the Gardiner Expressway at the old Dufferin Gates, along with an underground walkway under the swath of railway tracks from the Exhibition GO Station leading into Liberty Village.

With all of that said, the area from Dufferin to Strachan, King Street to Lake Ontario is all pedestrian friendly and can host a sprint tournament - maybe 2.

There are 4-6 1:4000 sprint maps in there - maybe more.

A quick OSM to OCAD conversion of the area described above - east to Bathurst though:
