Orienteering 42:25 [4] *** 5.4 km (7:51 / km) +145m 6:56 / km
spiked:17/24c shoes: VJ Falcons

British Relays - final leg for the OUOC Men's Premier team. Far better run than the day before, just with too many small misses and a bit of hesitancy - really should have dipped under 40 minutes. Course was very enjoyable, lots of change of direction and pace and a lot of gaffling - loads of controls out there which was confusing at times, but I only saw about 5 not on my course so must have been going in the right direction most of the time!

Physically was moving quite well most of the time, just didn't have a good enough control flow in places to keep it going. Where I did was going sub 7mins/k. A shame there was no-one out there to race at the time, reckon would have gone much faster - might have to do a first leg again soon as haven't for a while, see if I can keep up with a pack :) There's always next time...

Orienteering 1:50:00 [4] *** 12.5 km (8:48 / km) +400m 7:35 / km
spiked:14/20c shoes: VJ Falcons

British Champs. Not a great race, not too bad either. Could have dipped under 100mins if on a good day. Far more physical than expected, some tricky bits and some fast open bits. Too many stupid mistakes and plenty of hesitance.

Note

Attempted to do some mapping - bit of a learning curve. Have a fairly good base map and aerial photo but there's very little on it apart from the boundaries of the area and a few major paths. Trying to get the path network sorted first to give me something to work off, it's a hell of a lot more difficult than you'd think...
