I'm amazed at the amount of planning and preparation that went into this event. We're so lucky to have MNOC! I learned a lot and the time flew by.
Observations:
1. Team up.
2. Go ahead...cross the swamp! (CP 11). I ignored my instinct and tried to go around.
3. Hydration packs. Now I get it! I didn't run out but would have been more comfortable by sipping on the go, especially on the bike.
4. Eat more. Didn't even open the bag of jerky. What I thought was lack of conditioning may have also been lack of fuel.
5. I didn't wreck myself. Recovered nicely this evening.
6. Take the time to highlight the planned course on the maps. It would have helped a lot on the bike. Should fold map so current leg is easy to view if possible.
7. Prepare and test equipment completely before start. The water bottle belt was too loose at first.
8. The map case with built in bungy cords worked great. I could attach it to my belt and the bike for easy viewing.
