Note

Late train from home work. Car parked near the station wouldn't start. Just 'clunk'. NRMA guy turns up 2 hours later and jump starts the car. It's running really rough and he says the whole air con pulley system is loose and sparks flying everywhere. He recommends it be towed to a mechanic. I had a big service scheduled for the next day which would have included brakes, muffler and shocks. A new clutch was going to be deferred until later. Decided that the costs of getting this car back on the road outweigh the duration of any benefits. Rego renewal is due in less than 2 months as well. Looks like it's time to retire (scrap) this 13-year-old Mazda6 after 448,000km loyal service. Not sure when a replacement can be found. In the meantime this family with 4 drivers will have to manage with just one car.

"Beyond Rocklea", Belanglo State Forest. Short Hard: 3.4km, 10c. 5th/11 (17:02 behind Ian Meyer).
#1 - Drifted way left descending from track (lost 4:30). #2 - 90° error leaving #1 (-1:30). #3 - over hill to cliff line. #4 - up hill to flatter area. #5 - tracks to bend. #6 - fast run for 1.15km following tracks. #7 - tracks and bush descent. #8 - up to tracks again. #9 - crossed to track too late and missed AP from clearing, no features to relocate (-6:30). #10 - run fast. #F - run faster. 17°C. TE 3.6.
