"Fairley Dams", Holmesville. 19/30c. 37 points (max 56, 1:39 early - no penalties). 10th/33 (10 pts behind Wayne Hawken). 27°C. TE 3.5.
Some water in the creeks. Not too muddy. A few hills, nothing too steep or long. Double-sided map. Did 3c on the east #1 map on the way to the west #2 map where the controls appeared to be closer. Collected all the #2 map controls except 3c in the NE section. Bitten on left ankle by a spider while stopped at 226(#11). Missed my turn for 225(#12) and took a longer track. Lost 2:20 looking for 206(#16). Had planned to do the remaining 2-3pts (5c) west of the power lines on map #1. Time losses on map #2 meant skipping 232. Didn't see track to 203. Track leading to 222(19) is mapped "medium >1.5m" but should be "slow <1.5m". 1min lost here meant skipping 221 as well.
