Bike long (rail trail) 1:20:09 intensity: (28 @1) + (2:28 @2) + (39:03 @3) + (38:10 @4) 31.56 km (23.6 kph) +175m

Fernleigh Track (Belmont<>Adamstown). First time I had done more than a handful of kms on this old rail trail. Nicely surprised by the gradual climb from 5-10km. Unable to take advantage of the return downhill due to headwinds. Swerved to avoid a small coiled black snake at 12.9km but it had gone before I could identify it. Spotted Kurt Fearnley on a handcycle on both directions. I sometimes think they could change the spelling of the track name. Amazing how well behaved everyone was at keeping left, even walkers with children. 23°C. TE 3.0.

Bethany went to Canberra for the ACT championships this weekend. Tough fields with mostly NSW athletes and a smattering of Vics & Qlders. Both her races were run as timed finals. On Friday night she won the 4th heat (2:12.82 - SB) for 23rd/32. In Saturday's event she finished 6th in the 2nd 400m heat (57.24) for 14th/28 overall.

NSW Masters Athletics Championship, Campbelltown Athletics Stadium, Day 1/2. 8.30am-5.30pm. 21°C.
Light rain off & on all day. AA rain jacket was enough to keep dry. Program finished 30 minutes late while a broken steeple barrier was fixed. Otherwise uneventful program: 5km walk (ALB); 5x1500s (pos 14); 17x100s (WG/36); 2x100H (pos 36); 3x80H (pos 36); 11x400s (pos 26/6); Steeplechases (LB/S1); 4x200 relays (chg 1/3).

Front tyre very soft again, but seems to be OK for the ride duration. Garmin stopped randomly at one point and I had to add back about 2.4km and 9:17. Fairly happy with the effort. Jumping the the front wheel over the fallen tree is awkward as the bike really slows when the rear wheel hits. 32°C. 46%rh. TE 3.0.

Found out yesterday in a virtual 'Teams' meeting that I might be expected to work over Easter and do overtime until late April to work on the 'soft close' financial reports for March as a practice run for June. This would mean missing the Easter 3-Days event (competitor) and the Australian Athletics Championships (official). I did not sign up for this! Spent last night contemplating early retirement. I don't want to retire but feel that my work is not being valued. People see the final product, but not the time, effort and skills that put it all together. No one fills in for me when I am away, but I seem to be expected to help other people do their jobs. I can manage my regular work around my sports and family commitments but not these random projects.

Felt more fluent today. A minute faster than last week. Similar time to last October but still short of May's efforts. Plan to keep doing this distance for a while. A couple of runners and a few MTBs about, but I'm not scoring them anymore. 21°C. TE 2.9.

Faster today. 6" PB on the North-South segment. 24" PB on the whole route. Knees a little sore. Front tyre very soft before the last 2 rides. Can't see any obvious leakage of sealant. Tightened the valve a bit to see if that makes a difference. 23°C. TE 2.5.

Centennial Park. 3 laps including 2 with the reservoir hill climb. Still a bit stiff after 2 days at Narrabeen. Stacking hurdles was probably the most tiring activity. It was good to have a non-stop ride to get the kinks out. New kitchen installation starting at Coogee. 21°C. TE 2.7.
