NSW Athletics Championships, Sydney Olympic Park Athletics Centre, Day 2/3. 3.45-9pm. 22-19°C.
Getting more serious: mostly semifinals and finals tonight. 6 x 100m semis, 4 x 100m finals, 4 x 400m semis, 2 x 400 finals, 2 x 400mH heats, 2 x 1500m finals, 5000m walk, 4x800m Masters relay.
Back-up timekeeper tonight, just in case photofinish fails, although it's impossible to get everyone in a blanket finish. ANSW set up another camera at 100 yards to capture intermediate times. Rohan Browning was recorded at 9.41 (100y) on the way to 10.20 (100m). This should be a new Australian record, beating Jack Hale's 9.43 set on 9/1/2021.

Barry seemed happy with my approach to a practice question about a 4x400m relay disqualification and protest.
Due to the packed program Bethany wasn't able to do more than one event this weekend. She choose the 800m because she hadn't achieved a national qualifier yet. Ran at the back of the leading group through a fast first lap but couldn't hang on. Finished 6th in her heat at 2:12.68, 15th/32 overall.

Parramatta-Dundas Valley loop (CW). Retired the hybrid bike to the office bike-storage area. Will probably only ride when I'm in Parramatta. I'll keep one helmet here to cut down the amount of gear I have to bring in. 26°C. TE 2.7.

No time for a run today. Picked up my new road bike. Only 8kg compared to the 14kg hybrid I've been riding for the last 7.5 years. Have to wait for a new pair of shoes to come in my size before I can have a test ride. Maybe Saturday.
Attended a High Performing Officials webinar hosted by the NSW Department of Sport after work. Broad spectrum of reps from 11 sports. Main presenter was former cricket umpire, Simon Taufel. Some good tips and strategies for dealing with increasing scrutiny up to international level. Examples from league, rugby, soccer, tennis & cricket. Very relevant with the NSW and Australian athletics championships coming up over the next few weeks and WXC next Feb.
