5 AM

Official (ANSW finish line judge) 1:08:30 [1] 2.85 km (24:00 / km)
max:115 weight:66.5kg shoes: New Balance M520LK7 (black)

Sydney:10, Sydney Olympic Park, 5.45-11am. 9°C.
Essentially a second back up in case the timing chips worn in the runners' bibs don't register across the timing mats set up at the start and finish lines. The first back up is a camera positioned just after the finish line and high enough to capture the last 20m of the courses. Too many runners crossing simultaneously to write down every bib number. Also, the writing was too small to see until the last moment and half the runners obscured their numbers when they stopped their watches at the critical moment.
