Running 1:03:38 [2] 11.0 km (5:47 / km)

Weather: 0C, about -3C with windchill.

To make up for yesterday's failed attempt I decided to go out again, this time to do the Figure 8 loop from the Lej. Ran the trail portion and up and over Doouglas Park hill for a chance of pace.

Had quite a good relaxed steady pace run. Hardly any wind and the sun did peek out from the clouds here and there. Now that things have cooled off it's a lot quieter around the lakes which made for a peaceful meditative kind of run. Legs felt good and I had a nice quick turnover going; especially near the end. Been working on my mechanics and was focused running much more upright rather than with my usual pronounced forward lean. I think it is helping a lot with my breathing and my turnover!

Running 23:36 [2]

The plan was to do a 2ish hour longer run in lieu of the cancelled Saskultra.
The plan changed!

Started from The Cave and was going to do the usual tedious out and back down the street onto the bike path and back. There is one construction zone on the street to the bike path that I was aware of which I was able to run around and continue on my way. Shortly thereafter I encountered another one that I was unaware of that had the whole street blocked off for re-paving.

At that point my resolve pretty much disappeared and rather that make a huge detour to get where I wanted to be I just turned around and headed home. Apparently I didn't want to do the run all that badly, lol.

The only goodthing to come out of this was that my legs felt really good; still had that light springy feeling. It's funny, now that my legs feel good and my energy has soemwhat returned my motivation is lacking. Alas!

Running 1:00:00 [2]

First run in a week.

Was interested to see how it would go/feel after two leg weight workouts.
It actually went not to badly. Certainly was rather stiff and tight; leg muscles were none too happy at the start. It took half the run to get loose and to have things stop hurting which was fine; wasn't expecting anything different. The one odd thing though was at the same time my legs had a light springy feel to them that has been missing seemingly all year. Weird!

The one thing I will have to get used to is just going for runs for fitness now. Need to make the mental transition from race-based training to "just for fun" training.Iit's that time of year again; where does a season go!?

Weights 1:20:00 [2]
weight:186lbs

Weight workout: Deadlifts, 65-95lb, Dips, Inversions, Barbell Bicep Curls, Kettlebell swings.

Had another good session. A little bit sore from Monday going in however it didn't bother me during the workout. Primarily going to be focusing on full body exercises; front squat, deadlift, powercleans, and kettlebell swings. WIll also be doing bodyweight exercises as well as bodypart specific weight exercises as well.

Weighed myself for the first time in a long time....stillf FAT! In fact, I'm fatter than I was when I thought I was fat. TIme to change the diet bigtime! Going to be trying a wheat and gluten free regimen (as much as I can) and see if that will make a difference both in my weight and how I feel. Started reading the book "Grain Brain" which is an eye-opener so far. Give this a go anyways and see what happens.

Weights 1:20:00 [3]

Weights: Front squats at 65lb, chins, shoulders, Kettlebell swings, pushups.

First weight session in a while and the first leg workout since I can't remember when! Years probably.

Felt good to be be back at the gym. Mentally I suppose I've switched gears from running to strength work now that the season has come to a premature end. Kept the weight low as I haven't done any lifting for such a long time.

Now that I have started the key is to keep at it! My plan while I'm at school is to get a workout in (weights or TM) after class to get a break before studying the rest of the evening.
