Note

This is sad … MSA has scrubbed Trail 23 from its trail report and map.

I skied it once two years ago when Jess and I went up to watch World Cups. It was rutted and icy and still amazing. We are considering going up again, but it's a heck of a long drive if MSA won't even pretend that one of their best trails exists.

Also they really should stop saying they have 200km of trails, since without le 23, they're at closer to 80.

Ski 23:01 [1] 3.3 mi (6:58 / mi) +45m 6:41 / mi

Skiing around a bit before and after the race. Then food!

Ski race 21:00 [3] 5.1 mi (4:07 / mi) +73m 3:57 / mi

Race time! Fun race, and it was sketchy icy Weston. I was wearing a very long red tie (costume theme: "trump this") and a "Make Weston Great Again" hat. Total cost for tie at Goodwill: $2.99. Total time to find hat: 5 minutes.

The tie pretty quickly went around my neck trailing backwards. That was probably best; it didn't get stuck in my poles or anything. I led the first lap (it was not fast) but my legs were tired from the weekend and this was a legs race. Hung out on the back of the pack, then fell off, then passed Brandon, then sprinted Mark for that win. (No scoring of course.) Tactics was to lead in to the last downhill and put a few hard V2s in to put enough of a gap he couldn't draft, and that worked.

Forgot my watch (not my HRM, but watch) so I stole his time for the race from Strava. Thanks, Strava! Fast.
