Run 45:40 [1] 4.7 mi (9:43 / mi) +140m 8:54 / mi

So here is a thing that is poop. You go and ride bikes a few times, then do lots of core, then run stairs, and then your back hurts to holy heck. Lower back, fun times. Lots and lots of stretching is beginning to make it better, but for now it is not really good/fun for the running.

GAH.

Anyway, the good part about this run (hills, then hummocky muddy stuff, then back on the road) was after I was done I jumped in to a lake which was maybe 50 degrees. Felt pretty good after that. Short swim, though.

Run 29:12 [1] 3.2 mi (9:07 / mi)

Good god was I slow and feeling awful. Just, poop. Bad back, heavy legs. Not a good training weekend for team Ari. Not good at all.

Run 8:51 [1] 1.2 mi (7:23 / mi) +20m 7:01 / mi

Run before ParkO. Did you know it's more than a mile around the Common? I figured that since it was only about 50m from my office, I ought to do a warm up. I felt wicked slow, but actually ran pretty decently. There's a hill, to. I must rollerski on the common at lunch some time this summer BECAUSE I CAN.

Orienteering race (ParkO) 25:51 [3] 3.4 mi (7:36 / mi) +30m 7:24 / mi

ParkO was lots of fun. There are enough features that you need some navigation and some route choice, but mostly it's flat running. I felt like I was running faster than the times showed, but with close to 30 controls there's probably a good 3 or 4 or 5 minutes lost with 6-10 seconds to punch each one. So, yes, that's why it felt like mid 6:00s and not mid 7:00s.

A couple fun tidbits: halfway through the first map I got a control ahead of myself. Meaning that I would have my route to each control pre-planned and know which way to turn and what to look for (pair of trees with a bench, T station). I only really got to the oxygen deprivation stage by the end of the lap when I was sprinting it out. Best moment was when I ran through a frisbee toss and the guy mistook me for his friend and threw the disc to me. And I caught it, lefty, mid-stride. And attempted to throw it back lefty, which didn't work, so I stopped to pick it up and throw it back. And then the guy who said "hey there's one behind the Early of Sandwich." Well, yeah, I've been there.

Anyway, good times. And next week at the Newton Centre Playground. Hoorah. Newton.

Bicycle 30:00 [1] 6.0 mi (5:00 / mi)

Putting this in because I hauled a bike trailer with ~75 pounds on it and wow, that's a workout. Good luck going more than 15 mph. (I do too much rando biking to log it all :)

Did 50 flights of the stadium. Now my backs hurts and I am very tight. Good times!

Core (NP Monday) 25:00 [2]

Deck at Copley. Felt pretty okay, actually. I was with a not-the-fastest group today and didn't fall behind, although by the end of the deck my form was beginning to go on my push ups. I need to make sure I am doing at least two decks a week, though.

Run 22:00 [1] 2.5 mi (8:48 / mi)

Ran to NP, with a mile on a Hubway to make up some time, and then to work. With a pack. Felt pretty okay. Still, not good with running with a big pack; it slipslides around too much.
