Note

By the time I woke up it was 80 on it's way to 90. That.

Trail Run 1:01:54 [1] 3.9 mi (15:52 / mi)

Ran down the VW in the rain. Fell once at the top, and pussyfooted it until I got off the wet rocks. I wish I could go downhill faster.

Run hills (NP Friday) 46:53 [2] 5.6 mi (8:22 / mi) +335m 7:04 / mi

Felt okay at the NP this morning. Smaller crowd with school out for summer it seems. It was cool enough I didn't overheat, but I also wasn't going too, too hard. Sprinted a little at the end, though. Nice to do hills and be done at 7:25.

Bicycle warm up/down 15:00 [1] 2.6 mi (5:46 / mi) +58m 5:24 / mi

Bike to NP and up. the. hill.

Bicycle warm up/down 12:00 [0] 2.5 mi (4:48 / mi)

Ride bikes home.

Trail Run hills (Hill) 1:20:41 [3] 4.0 mi (20:10 / mi) +1067m 11:02 / mi

Running up the Valley Way for a fill in at Madison. I had about a 15 pound pack but was within about 10 minutes of my PR, so that's not too bad. Didn't totally kill the pace—especially at the bottom—but got moving further up. Any time you get to climb more than 1000m is a good workout. Good HT training, too.

Attackpoint's hill-o-meter doesn't seem to work on really steep stuff (17% grade)—I definitely was going faster than an 11:02 equivalent.

Run 40:00 [2] 5.5 mi (7:16 / mi)

Longfellow run with Melissa. Nice evening, and my heel doesn't hurt. Hooray!

Along the Esplanade, we passed some guy and he started trying to keep up with us. I pushed the pace up to what we figure was 6:45 or so but I didn't realize that Melissa also knew this guy was struggling along behind us. Had I known she knew, I would have dialed in 5:40 for a few hundred yards to really drop him. We are kid of assholes when we run. We need to work on sign language, too.

Then we passed a guy wearing five fingers, because that is a rule.

Run 31:47 [2] 3.9 mi (8:09 / mi)

Kept it short and not hard to see how my heel would respond. Pain is gone but I've mostly kept off of it the last two days. Hopefully … it will be happy later and I can forget about pain and it was bruising and temporary. Time will tell.

Note
(injured)

Ugh, woke up with a painful right ankle. Got diagnosed by my track-team-going-to-med-school roommate (real scientific) who told me to stay off it for the day. Said it's either bruise or tendonitis. Could be either after running down (and up, I guess) Greylock. It's fine, we're going to the baseball for father's day tonight anyway. I might spin around some Hubway at lunch for kicks and log that. And maybe core later? Silly feet.

Bicycle (Gratuitous Hubway) 34:08 [0] 5.2 mi (6:34 / mi) +10m 6:31 / mi

Headed out at lunch to rest the foot and take some Hubway rides for the sole purpose of recording more Hubway rides! Went from my office to North Station to Kendall and back. Good times.

Must talk to SGB about doing a Hubway-O race. Route choice would often be to run or bike between stations (there's a 120 second timeout to take a bike from the same station).

Note

Deserved day off. Wound up biking 10 miles of Hubway, including in the rain to the D line, and then a sprint to the train to get to the CSU annual meeting. Good times!
