Note

If you were following along, you'll remember when my phone stopped working because I sweat on it too much.

Well, after some good rice time, it started working again, perfectly.

Just in time for my sister to drop it and shatter the screen. Well okay then.
10 AM

Run 7:00 [3] 0.9 mi (7:47 / mi) +40m 6:50 / mi

Planned an early run. Then slept way in. Oh well. Ran the first leg of a mini triathlon about 15 minutes after a heavy breakfast (pancakes, fruit, syrup and sausage, yeah) … straight up a hill. NOT a good idea. Almost lost my lunch—well, breakfast—trying to keep up with a high school kid, then caught him on the flats at the end. Apparently I put the fear of god in him. I look forward to doing this as an official old dude. Soon. Too soon. (Yes, my birthday is upcoming, and yes, I am depressed about this.)
3 PM

Run 18:11 [1] 2.0 mi (9:05 / mi) +82m 8:04 / mi

Went chasing my sister and gf who were on a run. Almost caught them. Realized it was still a little hot for a long road run. Also, too much road running.

Trail Run 29:40 [2] 2.7 mi (10:59 / mi) +85m 10:01 / mi

Fun trail run on the Kennebec Land Trust land. I really should find some contours and try to map this area. Not a lot of point features (but some) but lots of stone walls and contours. And runnable woods.

Run 18:21 [1] 1.9 mi (9:39 / mi) +10m 9:30 / mi

My legs must be tired—I ran slower downhill than up.

Run 30:43 [2] 3.3 mi (9:18 / mi) +173m 8:00 / mi

I have a run I call the "power run" which is 6 miles and nearly 1000 feet of climb. I was running late today and shortened it by getting rid of the flat parts. Basically, a 350 foot climb and a 250 foot climb, give or take. Nothing flat. Not fast.
7 PM

Bicycle 1:19:53 [1] 19.2 mi (4:10 / mi) +506m 3:51 / mi

After dinner bike ride. Digestion, scouting for rollerskiing. There will be a great loop once Route 41 (under construction) is repaved. I took one shortcut and there were lots of hills. Even the flat parts aren't flat. Saw some good sunset and made it back before pitch black, which is a good thing. Also saw about 4 cars in the last 12 miles of the ride, which was great. Jump in the lake!

Run 1:34:38 [2] 10.2 mi (9:17 / mi) +229m 8:40 / mi

Woke up early to run before it got very hot. Opted for the lake lap = more distance but less elevation than the Power Run. Very sweaty and pretty slow, although I killed the last climb out of North Wayne. By how much I do not know, since my phone didn't like being sweat on, apparently.
5 PM

Rollerski 57:00 [2] 8.6 mi (6:38 / mi) +170m 6:15 / mi

So my phone is working! Sort of! It wasn't for this so I didn't get a track which is sad. But, rollerskiing! Having a favorite rollerski loop is like having a spouse who ages quickly but gets infrequent—but really good—plastic surgery. When they get it it makes them look oh so much better. This is what happens when there's a stretch of really bad road which is repaved. Huzzah.

Anyhow, it was hot and I drained a lot of water but otherwise had a good ski. Then swimming and dinner. Thinking I'll hit the power run tomorrow morning.

Run 1:02:36 [1] 7.4 mi (8:28 / mi) +80m 8:11 / mi

After a day off yesterday (travel day) I am going to have a mini-camp this weekend. And it is balls hot, so I hit the road around 7 for a run this AM. Not a bad run around Portland with a couple of hills, but it got hotter by the end and I lagged appreciably in the last couple of miles. At least it was done by 8:15. Breakfast time!

Note

Ugh, thunderstorms when I was going to go rollerskiing. Oh well.

Note

Ugh, have hemorrhoids or something painful down there. Apparently running won't make them worse. Poop. A little too literally.

Run 40:48 [2] 5.5 mi (7:25 / mi)

So I got out of work and a meeting and holy sea breeze! For the first time in a while, the temperature dipped below 70—and all the way down to around 60. This is beautiful, since it's been 70+ with 70+ dewpoints all week and will be for a while. Gotta run while the running is good. We took a longer run than anticipated, but I felt pretty good and we ran 7:30s and felt happy with that. Otherwise nothing really that interesting, just a good run. And good sleeping weather!

Note

Couple of medicalish things today keeping me out of training. Hopefully will get better tomorrow. Also, it would be nice if the dewpoint would go below 70. Yuck.
