Ski (Classic) 1:40:00 [1] 14.0 mi (7:09 / mi) +610m 6:17 / mi

WHEEEEEEEEE. Skiing is so much fun. Windblown was mid-winter today, no wet spots, no icy spots, just full on wheeee skiing all around and all over. Pretty awesome, in fact. It was soft so I grabbed some blue wax and strided for 1:40. Not sure how far because Strava kept breaking. Maybe because it is cold? Can't find satellites my foot. Discovered the key to skiing at Windblown is to not think about where you are and just go from one trail to the next to the next. The issue is that Windblown has a bunch of trails scrunched in to a small area and there's a trail junction every 73 feet or so. But if you just keep skiing wherever and do lots of loops it's lots of fun. Plus, it's under an hour and a half from Boston if you don't get stuck behind too many plows. Classic skiing felt weird (I don't classic rollerski enough) but a lot better as the day went on. I always feel like my classic technique isn't great. But maybe it's just awkward. Need more arm strength.

Then "lunch" which hit all the major food groups: cheezits, twizzlers (which I learned at the Raid are very good and digestible), egg nog.
4 PM

Ski 58:00 [2] 9.0 mi (6:27 / mi) +300m 5:50 / mi

Again Strava died! But skate skiing. The first bit felt weird, because skate skiing is just that different from rollerskiing. Then it just got better and better and better and by the end I did not want to go in! So I got back at 5 and the lodge—with my stuff inside—was locked up tight. Oh, well, I began plotting my return later this week to ski more. Then one of the Jenks showed up with a sled and two lost skiers (I'd been skiing in the dark with nature's headlamp a.k.a. the moon) just as I was leaving, and I got my leftovers, classic boots and pink sweatshirt. Yay!

So I <3 attackpoint because I can post my wheeeeee rambles about skiing. Skiing! Wheeee!

Run 1:05:00 [1] 8.3 mi (7:50 / mi) +35m 7:44 / mi

Run in the light snow around Jamaica Pond. Lots of ice on the water, and from the sky! Lovely weather for a run; I overdressed.

Run hills 34:15 [3] 4.0 mi (8:34 / mi) +281m 7:02 / mi

Ran five hills in the cold. Felt good. Apparently we were supposed to do six, but by the time I put on all my clothes to bike over, I was running late. Looks like on Sunday I will be skiing up hills, wheee!

Run 35:00 [1] 4.4 mi (7:57 / mi) +11m 7:54 / mi

Ran out to pick up the car after the oil change. Went with synthetic since the vehicle is going to get a workout this winter and I'd rather not to have to get another oil change in February. Nice day for a run; almost got out faster than I got home in traffic.

Run 46:08 [2] 5.6 mi (8:14 / mi) +30m 8:06 / mi

Feeling somewhat better today. Almost a 10k around Boston through the Comm Ave tunnel of lights. Then up Beacon Hill. Hills! Hopefully this is the last vestiges of the cold going away.

Note

Great, right when my cold seems to be winding down, my GI gets pissed off from something. From the NyQuil to the Pepto!.

So I've had a cold for 15 days now. I keep track. It's gone from head to throat. Not chest, really. Just a big hurty lump in the throat. Been eight days of this lump thing. Not fun.
