Ski 2:13:12 [1] 18.6 mi (7:10 / mi) +634m 6:29 / mi

Skiing the Hall with Lincoln and Jess. We all felt pretty lethargic—I think I'm still recovering—but had some fun. Lincoln and I got really excited about STRAVA and I set a couple of KOMs on a couple of the hills. It was fast in places but just enough new snow to keep it from being scary fast. Thought about more in the afternoon but wanted to get home at a reasonable hour. And 2:13 is a decent OD, anyway.

Ski hills 16:24 [1] 2.2 mi (7:27 / mi) +133m 6:17 / mi

Waiting for Lincoln and Jess I skied around and around Windy Hill Fields. Mostly without poles.

Ski hills (Free) 48:37 [2] 6.9 mi (7:03 / mi) +373m 6:02 / mi

The biathlon dude was busy, so we went to ski East Pasture. Really, really nice. I pushed uphill some, taking the STRAVA segment by more than a minute. Pretty good climb; 3k at a pretty well sustained 8% grade. Then wheee down the hills and a couple more climbs.

Ski 20:00 [1] 3.0 mi (6:40 / mi)

Guessing at time and distance here. We went and played biathlon. A "45 minute intro" turned in to a 3 hour "here's how to do biathlon." Fun! We got very, very cold when we weren't skiing, despite lots of clothes. It was almost like coaching. Except with .22 rifles.

Run 25:14 [1] 2.7 mi (9:21 / mi)

Short evening run easing back in to the whole exercisey thing. Felt pretty okay. Almost ran across the river but thought better of it. I want to run across the river. Which may never melt, at this rate. Poor rowers.

Note

Still recovering. Cold is getting better, and 9-10 hours of sleep a night are certainly helping. I'm weaning myself off of my cocktail NyQuil and Jameson and hoping to ski lots this weekend, which means not skiing Weston for no good reason, and not running hills at 6:30 a.m. in 8 degree temperatures (mainly because it would cause me to sweat and then get cold which is a great way to make myself sicker). Planning to ski lots this weekend, though!

Note
(rest day)

Total and utter rest day today. I dropped Ali at the airport early yesterday, and went an hour earlier today. Cripes. Tired and useless as my cold is not really getting better, and flying did not help things; excruciating pain on the descent in to BOS (although I at least had a row to myself to bang out Birkie data). Missing the final Worlds, but I've only skipped one other. I'd have to finish >6 to improve my points at all, and it wouldn't affect my overall standing or my age class standing (I'm almost a master so I can obsess over this, or pretend to, frankly I don't care).

Ski (Classic) 1:01:43 [1] 5.8 mi (10:38 / mi) +50m 10:22 / mi

Teaching a friend to ski and striding around some. She was totally getting it, too, which is great. Good striding (like not just old man shuffle), decent DP, and we even worked on skating on her classic skis. Then I told her she had to buy skate skis. Several pairs.

Cold still meh, and my feet got painfully cold and not happy colors. Eep! Feet were all Raynauds-y, I think, so I have to be careful not to frostbite them or anything in the next few days. Usually they stay nice and warm, but goodness not today. Not even that cold (15º or so). Yikes.
