Ski long (Skate) 2:31:20 [1] 22.0 mi (6:53 / mi) +767m 6:12 / mi

Great day with Alex & CSU up to Waterville. Good call–2 hours and good snow. It was a bit icy and lots of death cookies; it could have used another pass, but for the second weekend skiing in a row in early December it's hard to complain. First we skated up Snows, which was nice, all in a line of mostly CSU skiers with me, Jamie, Alex and juniors. Got to the top and my foot hurt from the boot maybe being on weird or too tight, so while they took a picture, I readjusted my boot, then skied down with Jamie and complained about having pain because hey, I'm a master now!

Had to pass a guy going down who was snowplowing slowly, so I turned around and skated about 100m uphill, turned back hoping to swoop down the hill and people were still waiting. Well, snowplow it is.

Anyway, then we sort of split up and I wound up skiing up the little hill (Osceola) on my own, then skipped going down the flat trail because eff that and there was lots of hay showing. So I went up Tripoli, thinking I was chasing most of the CSUers. Then I got to the top, and my that is a climb, and hadn't seen them, and cruised down and saw them maybe a third of the way up. I went to the bottom and, hell, went up again. This time I ran in to a guy who I'd passed twice, both times one of us shooting down something as the other climbed. He looked like a good skier and hey it's NHPR's own Sam Evans-Brown! Skied up with him but he was on his first Tripoli and I let him go for the top. Also, he's a really good skier.

Passed CSU coming down near the top and the junior I'd caught up with turned back. But I was one pitch from the top and went up, because I wanted to do a double-Tripoli. And I did! It was cold. I god to the bottom and and was cold and Alex was skiing uphill so I did too to round off 22 miles / 35k. Not bad.

Then we got hot cocoa and drove home. Then I went to Russos and bought all the vegetables and roasted all the vegetables.

Trail Run warm up/down 11:21 [1] 1.1 mi (10:19 / mi) +76m 8:30 / mi

Warm up the hill and down the trail. Took the bus out, missed the stop by a tad (the ding strip was broken) and had to run back. Not raining too, too hard.

Trail Run hills 49:50 [3] 3.7 mi (13:28 / mi) +460m 9:43 / mi

Bounding in Waltham! Glad I made the trek out (and such an easy pretty-much-door-to-door ride on the 70A). I borrowed poles from Alex (and broke the springy thing—Alex I apologize publicly and profusely) because early in the morning my brain does not equate bounding with poles, apparently.

Took the first one too hard, and never really felt that great—perhaps the breakfast burrito an hour before was not the greatest idea (but so good!). For the last one I tried to sprint-bound the whole way up the steep part but only made it about 3/4 of the way. Which is sad. I want to be strong.

Then dried out and took the bus home.

Run hills 36:08 [2] 4.3 mi (8:24 / mi) +282m 6:59 / mi

NP! I slept through my alarm and got a late start, almost saw another cyclist get hit after the BU Bridge, and then guided her (first Friday in Boston!) to the base of the hill. Biked up, then ran down. Apparently you were supposed to sprint Mason to the top (top 2/3) but I heard it through the telephone game as sprint street to street so did hilltervals. It worked, I guess.

Run 44:10 [1] 5.5 mi (8:02 / mi) +30m 7:54 / mi

Another Boston run. This time down by the protest and then down the Comm Ave tunnel of lights and back across the Harvard bridge. Nice evening!

Run hills 41:00 [2] 2.5 mi (16:24 / mi) +709m 8:43 / mi

50 sections today. Felt really good for the first 15 sections, then did something to my knee and slowed down a bit. Probably the legs tired from the first skiing. Kept that under control and still finished respectably.
