Hiking 41:13 [1] 2.2 mi (18:44 / mi) +248m 13:52 / mi

The mountain the lodge is at is great, and I took a quick run up to the summit to check out the view. Pretty steep! And a great view. Also, there was cell signal there, and I was able to check the weather (it was surprisingly cloudy all morning and no cell signal).
2 PM

Trail Run long 2:40:00 [1] 9.5 mi (16:51 / mi) +832m 13:14 / mi

Then Lincoln and Jess wanted to go for a trail run up Barren, and I knew where to go (and we told a guy where to go on the way in) and we did, but up to Cloud Pond. When I hiked the AT, Barren was rainy and foggy and I didn't check out the pond because rain and fog.

First I dropped a couple of cans of Gansett down at the shelter. Trail magic! Then we had a nice run up the hill, and across to the summit, and over to Cloud Pond, which was gorgeous. Then we turned around and came down and my legs felt amazingly not bad, although it was kind of late. And then I drove to Readfield for dinner and a jump in the lake.

Trail Run long 4:10:00 [1] 17.5 mi (14:17 / mi) +1113m 11:56 / mi

Great weekend up in the middle of nowhere in Maine. A friend is caretaking an amazing Audubon property up that way and had a cancelation and Lincoln was taking video and we all stayed free. Old lodge on a series of mountain lakes in the middle of a mountain.

It was also near the AT. Everyone else wanted to sit around and do nothing and I was restless so I ran to the AT. I found it without getting too lost, and ran up Barren Mountain. It was a five mile run to the trail, and then about four more miles to the top, with a good 2000ish foot climb.

Then down. And then back up the road, which was a 500 foot climb, and then a hike back up the mountain.
5 PM

Hiking 17:00 [1] 1.0 mi (17:00 / mi) +76m 13:45 / mi

Then we went across the lake in a boat (oh, yeah, to get there you get a ride up a 4WD, and then across a lake in a boat) and ran up a barely-marked trail to get the view from over the lodge. My watch may have gone on a ride on Lincoln's drone, too.
7 PM

Paddling 23:18 [1] 1.1 mi (21:11 / mi)

Then I went and played with the stand up paddleboard that had been brought in. These are fun, especially when I figured out that the paddle was adjustable. Good core.

Fresh Pond run in the morning, pretty damn nice weather.

Run hills 28:19 [1] 1.5 mi (18:53 / mi) +509m 9:11 / mi

One tour of the stadium. Warm day, but no sun, very humid, overheating and a bottle of ice water. Happy with 28 minutes given the weather. Hopefully it's 45 at the end of September.

Note

Bought new rollerski/ski-o poles online. $70 for a pair of Fischer somethings, shipping included. Not too bad.

Core (Rollerboard) 8:00 [1] 0.1 mi (1:19:58 / mi) +20m 49:20 / mi

100 pulls on the rollerboard: 40-30-20-10. Need to do this more. Lots more. Fuck broken pole.

8 AM

Rollerski 16:23 [1] 2.0 mi (8:11 / mi)

Rollerskiing to work. Plan to rollerski after work out on the bike path via Red Line. No Hubway, so ski to work.
7 PM

Rollerski 30:57 [1] 4.0 mi (7:44 / mi)

Then my boss, who is on vacation, had the cleaners come, and I had to stay and babysit them because he didn't give them keys, and they're the cleaners who clean his house, and I was angry, because it is dark, and I can't ski.

Well, I skied home. Across the dam, down along the river, avoid a baby stroller paying no attention, put my pole in a grate FUCK BROKEN POLE.

Shit shit shit shit shit.

Then I had to no poles home and get my anger together to keep from crashing. Not happy at all.
