Note

Options for this weekend:

1) Stay local, clean my bedroom, do my taxes, go on a long (20+ mile) run, don't get injured. Pros: good for life, good for training, next weekend is ski-o in the County. Cons: eh, boring.

2) Go up to Brunswick after work on Friday, then drive up to Rangeley Saturday morning, ski the Rangeley Loppet. Pros: Long ski! Cons: No long run, less time at home (but back Saturday night/Sunday morning), lots of travel.

3) Go up to Brunswick after work Friday, then do the 25k Saturday morning which is earlier, then keep going north to Quebec City to watch the World Cup races, stay with Lincoln on Saturday night, record a podcast with Caitlin maybe, skiing at MSA on Sunday morning, then the long trip back. Pros: Epic, epic weekend, tons of snow in Quebec (50 cm in the past 48 hours), Quebec City, MSA! Cons: 15 hours of driving two weekends in a row. No long run. Not that much training.

Run 47:21 [1] 5.8 mi (8:10 / mi) +10m 8:07 / mi

Crossed the river and felt pretty good, so down to the Craigie Bridge. Ran around 7s along the river for about three miles, then hit lights and such on Cambridge Street. Such is life.

Run hills 41:50 [3] 2.0 mi (20:55 / mi) +709m 9:57 / mi

50 sections of the stadium. Legs still sore and tired from the weekend, so I didn't go all out, but it was a good continuation of soreness week. Pretty warm, and the rain only started at the end, which was too bad. We're almost in overheat season, boo.

Ski 37:50 [1] 4.9 mi (7:43 / mi) +30m 7:35 / mi

Fun sprints at Weston for the "race". Went out with Frank, John et al in a heat and hunt on, but not wanting to break people or equipment didn't cut inside hard enough on the last turn. 4 minutes of hard work, then grabbed a shovel to fill in the area which was getting thinner with each passing heat.

Of course, it's sad that conditions were better April 1 last year than March 1 this year.

Run warm up/down 18:05 [1] 2.3 mi (7:52 / mi) +20m 7:39 / mi

Hyannis for half marathon. Pacing sister; getting a warm up in, which was good since my legs felt a lot better at mile 2 than mile 1.

Run race 1:40:26 [1] 13.2 mi (7:37 / mi) +40m 7:32 / mi

Fist long run on pavement. Went out kind of far back with my sister who had a 1:46 PR and was aiming for a 1:40. That is actually a good fast L1 pace for me. So I led at that pace, 7:30s with the wind, 7:50s in to it, breaking it for her when I could. Nice race, ocean views, and a lovely day. Feet hurt a little but no blisters, ankle a little swollen though but not bad. Sister and BF had a hotel which was key for a shower and a sauna and stretch. Happy with the time although we finished just over 1:40, legs felt good and no knee or ankle pain. Yet.

Sister had a 5 minute PR and came in top 100 women. Not bad for someone who had her first half two years ago in 2:15. Might be a BQ in her future.

Run warm up/down 11:41 [1] 1.2 mi (9:44 / mi)

Cool down waiting for the shower. Hurt but not too much. Then pizza!

Run long 31:48 [1] 3.7 mi (8:36 / mi) +81m 8:03 / mi

Long pavement-trail-off trail run today. Train to Mattapan (52 minutes there, 38 back, #makingconnections) which isn't bad considering with typical weekend traffic it takes that long to drive to Blue Hills. 3ish mile run to the Blue Hills, then mostly trail running with a couple of off-trail segments following my map. Trying to ski-o navigate at other times: look at map, choose route, execute.

Found some hills, too, then ran back. A little ice and water but mostly dry. Fun!

Trail Run long 52:12 [1] *** 5.5 mi (9:29 / mi) +200m 8:32 / mi
spiked:1/2c

Mostly on trails, a bit off.

Run long 24:31 [1] 3.0 mi (8:10 / mi)

Run back.

Run hills 33:30 [2] 4.1 mi (8:10 / mi) +255m 6:51 / mi

NP hills! Felt pretty okay, but pretty slow going down to stretch but not kill my legs. Nice to have push up and burpie spice today.
