Ooh, Chicago PR day is fun. No stadium, so you go to a hill (8m climb) and run down it, do a jumping jack, run to a burpee, run to a push up, then run up a hill. Then you run down and do two of each. Then three.
The record is 11.
I sprinted down the hill like I do summit, and won the first split, and then kept going. Felt good, and my HR was right up in the 160s, nice L3. Was up with two other guys doing 10 jumping jacks when time was called, which was good enough for a PR. Will go for a full 10 next time, but it's nice that it's 65 and not 80 today.
Bicycle warm up/down 37:47 [1] 7.7 mi (4:54 / mi)
And the ride home.
Came to a realization about bike lanes: they are not there to tell bikes where to go. They are there to tell cars where not to go. If you have a street without a bike lane, cars park further from the curb and drive down the "middle" of the lane leaving little space for cyclists. The bike lane keeps a clear path for cyclists. It doesn't mean you should feel safe, or bike in the middle of the lane (bike on the outside to avoid getting doored) but it doesn't mean it's not useful.
