Ski 1:11:00 [1] 10.3 mi (6:54 / mi) +60m 6:46 / mi

A bit more than an hour at Weston around dark. Snow still untransformed behind trees where it hadn't seen sun, and pretty good coverage. Just stayed mostly on the flats, started with no poles, then switched to double poling with about 90 second intervals out the flats, then skated around some. Made it 1:10 so I'd hit 4.5 hours for the weekend. Weston!

Trail Run long 3:20:33 [1] 20.0 mi (10:02 / mi) +664m 9:05 / mi

Last year Maartje left and had a goodbye marathon in the Blue Hills. With my IT band feeling okay after NP hills yesterday, I decided to give it a go.

Pretty lovely running, started snowing about 6 miles in. The first three loops were good, by the fourth I was beginning to have feels in my IT band. And the trails were getting a little snowcovered, so after four loops I went out for an extra few hundred meters to get to 20 even and called it a day.

The fact that my IT band lasted 20 miles makes me happy. The fact that I am probably going to go skiing tomorrow makes me very happy.

Note

Busy week (three classes, three things due on Thursday) but over the hump now. Knee feels great. Yoga has been good (not sure how I should log that). Ready for skiing.

Plan for weekend:

Saturday: Long easy trail run, Blue Hills.
Sunday: SKI SKI SKI (hopefully it snows enough)
Monday: Maybe afternoon ski? Maybe morning to Wa-wa wachusett.
Tuesday: Also maybe afternoon ski?
Wednesday: Maybe morning ski, maybe Wachusett?
Thursday: No more classes. Full ski day!
Friday: Meeting, then skiing.
Next weekend: ? If good snow, skiing. If something goes awry, maybe a transit nerd day to NYC.

And then the next week I have three days of morning meetings and afternoons with skiing! And then five days off with skiing, and then MSA.

60 hours in December?

Run 29:52 [3] 4.0 mi (7:28 / mi) +258m 6:13 / mi

Off to NP. Drove over since I have guests who are running the Millinocket Marathon (they're insane) from Chicago. Ran the first hill at top speed and was on PR pace, but without a warmup (not biking) and with legs still feeling Wednesday, fell off a bit. Still <30 min, and knee felt fine the whole way. Excellent!

Run 8:18 [1] 0.6 mi (13:50 / mi) +73m 10:02 / mi

I had poles in the car, and did real honest bounding to "cool down" which sort of worked as a cool down, mostly the walks/jogs down. 8 total. 10m each or so. Felt good. Maybe snow this weekend?

Run 27:00 [1] 1.0 mi (27:00 / mi) +383m 12:20 / mi

"Raceman" today which meant going hard and then sometimes really hard. Won some, lost some, went stupid hard on a couple. Fast twitch; nothing more than about 25 seconds. But those 25 seconds are hard!

Knee good. So there's that.

Have to decide this weekend: Mount Hood? Skiing? Rollerskiing? Trail running? ALL OF THE ABOVE?
