Ski-O 24:56 2.2 mi (11:20 / mi) +115m 9:45 / mi
I wanted to get some ski-o in before World Cups since I haven't done ski-o since (checks log) 2016 team trials. So I figured I'd be rusty. I was wishy-washy if I'd go but then Ken said he'd set 29 controls and groomed his trails and Vermont isn't that far so away I went!
He had four courses planned, and a few inches of wet powder over a solid base, and groomed his trails one snowmobile wide "just to make it difficult for you" and I got a late start but went to ski the courses. I was real rusty. The first controls were a mess. Also, I had all four maps showing on my map board and when I spun the board I was extremely confused. But by the end of the first course I was beginning to remember what this was about.
Ski-O 24:15 2.2 mi (11:01 / mi) +100m 9:39 / mi
Third and fourth courses felt better. It helped to know the course, but also made better decisions, read ahead to make sure I was hitting the controls in the right direction, and analyzed route choices. I felt a lot better at the end than at the beginning!
(Also, it's nice when my elevation is 327 feet, that's an easy one to convert to meters!)
Ski-O 12:35 1.2 mi (10:29 / mi) +60m 9:05 / mi
Skied course 1 again, 1:30 faster than the first time around, so that's good. Definitely feeling better and looking forward now to WC in a few weeks.
Also, if I can get an 8:00 start time on Wednesday I can make it back for my class, unless I have meetings before that …

Ken has hills! I took a spin around his trails—well groomed, but pretty grabby, except where the aspect had melted and iced, where it was fast, but then the grabby would lurch you—and boy does he have hills! Thanks, Ken, for the skiing and trails!
