After running too hard yesterday, I went for a slow, meandering, L1 jog today. Success!

Run warm up/down 11:05 [1] 1.6 mi (6:56 / mi)

Janji run in Union (Somerville). 1.6 miles. Left at 9:19, predicting 11 minutes. 5 seconds over.

Run long 1:17:13 [2] 10.2 mi (7:34 / mi) +103m 7:20 / mi

They gave out maps of the 10 miler, which were b&w 1/8 sheet google maps with about four road names, so basically an orienteering map. Not many people grabbed them so I thumbed my group the whole way. We stopped for a photo and people yelled at me like I was going the wrong way when I overran it, then I navigated my group pretty well (we did miss a turn to Fayerweather but corrected on the next street) back; some other groups got a little lost. Legs still sore from Thursday, but motor feels good, some 7 min miles. So totally the wrong pace for training, not L1, and not tempo. Whoops.

Run 2:41 [1] 0.3 mi (8:56 / mi)

Run back to Janji from the top of the hill.

Run 14:33 [1] 1.6 mi (9:06 / mi) +6m 8:59 / mi

Not too struggly of a run home.

Run 47:36 [1] 5.6 mi (8:30 / mi) +39m 8:19 / mi

Cold, rainy, a little chunky rain, wind. So, a good day for running. Got caught up with work, so it was dark, cold and rainy, but that didn't keep me from getting cold and wet.

Run 43:00 [1] 5.1 mi (8:26 / mi) +22m 8:19 / mi

Running down Main Street towards the river just past Kendall. Runner comes by and asks if this is Main Street. Yes. Was I coming from Cambridge Running Club. No. I asked where he was going. Kendall Station. I pointed him back in the right direction. "Thanks, it's my first day here."

WAIT! I MUST TELL YOU ABOUT MY CULT!

Run 9:30 [1] 1.3 mi (7:18 / mi)

Run/sprint over to NP. 10 minutes. So if I leave the house at 6:20 …

Run 24:50 [4] 1.5 mi (16:33 / mi) +524m 7:56 / mi

L4 at stadiums, the day after World Champs. Held L4 most of the way, except dropped off from about 19-5. Apparently I'm a little tired. Felt good. Wish I'd felt this good on Saturday. Still a couple minutes off PR.

Run 13:16 [1] 1.3 mi (10:12 / mi)

Run home. Slower than out!

Ski warm up/down 11:24 [1] 2.0 mi (5:42 / mi) +26m 5:29 / mi

2 minutes of warm up. 9 of cool down. Ice at Weston

Ski race 12:45 [4] 3.1 mi (4:07 / mi) +42m 3:57 / mi

Feeling better today and the Weston Race is on and I only have four races and they're scoring five so I'm not running a marathon in seven weeks let's go skiing!

I'll never understand Weston physics, but the snow was hardpack icy even though it was 50˚ and had been sunny, so it was fast and pretty decently groomed all things considered. Mount Foljms was narrow and thin, so we went down. Yes, down. In a race.

First lap went out and I went down in second or third, and on the second lap was behind someone who couldn't keep their poles from flying up so decided to pass them and settled behind Frank. On the third lap I figured I'd attack, but it was really hard to get enough punch to attack, so I just wound up leading the pack. On the fourth lap Frank and Rob went by after Mount Foljms, and I attacked and got ahead of Rob but by that point Frank had just enough of a gap I couldn't catch him, but I held off the pack for second, two seconds back.

Breathing is nice, I wish I'd been able to do that Saturday on Lake Hayward.
