Trail Run 2:59:51 [1] 14.2 mi (12:40 / mi) +488m 11:27 / mi

Stopped at the Kolob Canyons portion of Zion. I found a 7 mile trail run to an arch (very cool) and the ranger said the footing was pretty good. What's 14 miles between friends in the desert? Took 2l of water and made the outbound running 9-10m miles down the canyon and then gradually up, slowed mostly by sand more than anything else.

On the way back, I was slowed by it being 95˚ out. I had enough water to ration, but was really only saved by stopping at every little stream to dip my head in, and at the last river crossing by soaking my shirt in the stream and putting it back on. Still was in major suffers up the hill, not danger zone suffers, but 97˚ and sunny suffers. Made it back with the end of my water, then filled water bottles at the ranger station and drank another liter.

Should have brought more! Or a filter. But hey, 95˚.

Trail Run 1:00:33 [1] 6.0 mi (10:06 / mi) +328m 8:38 / mi

After a long day of driving I basically slept the whole next day. Who knew driving cross country was so tiring? Oh, wait. Probably still some hangover from constant travel for 6 weeks.

Anyway, went out to run in the morning, later than planned so no long run so I decided to do some repeats. Found a nice hill and went to do 3x5m, and was able to go reasonably hard (garbage HRM notwithstanding).

After the second one I felt so garbage I figured I'd just do 2m hard. Made it 90s.

Run 37:48 [1] 4.5 mi (8:24 / mi) +78m 7:58 / mi

NP in Mpls was running around Gold Medal Park and then down by the river for silliness. Good crew, pushed some hills a little hard, and then got breakfast. Now off to Boulder! [long drive]

Run 36:47 [1] 4.3 mi (8:33 / mi)

In Chicago much later than planned after a long flight delay because of thunderstorms. So I did not wake up in time for track. Instead, ran down to North, across to the beach, and up to Fullerton, for a swim, and then to get breakfast food.
