Trail Run 3:00:44 [1] 11.3 mi (16:00 / mi) +986m 12:35 / mi

Needed to escape to some mountains, but wanted some running, and didn't want to go too far. Also, hot, so wanted to start high. So, Moosilauke. 2h15 up, and got the nearest parking space. Lucky me. Lots of cars there.

Was not disappointed. Out the hurricane trail (running) them up the Carriage Road (runnable, except it gains 1000 ft/mi, would be fun coming down). Not much traffic on those trails; everyone does the Gorge Brook-Snapper loop and it shows as the trail once Snapper joins is much more eroded. But it never gets steep, and became runnable once again up top. Ran over the summit and down Beaver Brook, kind of rolled ankle at one point but it was fine.

Then down the Asquam Ridge trail, and with plenty of time, up Al Merrill. First bit was runnable up 100m or so, and then at the top it became a wide, graded ski trail and wheeeee all the way down. I'd thought the loop was a bit longer than it was, which meant I had time to stop at Market Basket on the way down.

Run 1:27:39 [1] 10.3 mi (8:31 / mi)

Didn't run early and then it was hot, so I went out at night, and it was still hot. Managed 10. Not too happy about it.

Run 10:00 [3] 1.8 mi (5:33 / mi)

Was going to go to run track, but track alone is unfun and also wik, I didin't feel like running in circles. So along the river with 10x1m intervals. Which is fun, because I got to pass a couple of bicyclists. Intervals felt pretty decent, at least. Need to get longer.

Run 32:00 [1] 3.7 mi (8:39 / mi)

Rest of run. First mile took an extra minute talking to Cristina.

Also both on my Garmin and on my new Suunto, my HR sometimes does weird things for the first mile-or-so of runs before calming down (using chest strap). Probably a sensing error, but the two sensors pick up the same sort of thing. But here, it jumped in to L4 (but obvi not L4), then went back to resting as I talked to Cristina, then jumped to L4 again, before settling after about 10m. Have to assume it was picking up cadence, or something. Thoughts?

Run 33:26 [1] 3.3 mi (10:08 / mi) +91m 9:20 / mi

Run with Alex in the morning, same loop, different direction, a bit more relaxed.

Rollerski 1:14:23 [1] 12.0 mi (6:12 / mi) +450m 5:33 / mi

Alex decided to move to a road in Vermont which happens to be the go-to route for rollerskiing for SMST2.

So Ed and I watched a couple of people rollerski by with a coach, and then an hour later as I passed by them on my rollerski, I gave a wave and a hello (or a grunt, as I was climbing one of the hills, it's a really nice road for rollersking, even with a top speed of 35 mph). They said hello to. One of the hellos came from Jessie Diggins.

I can die now.

Run 28:23 [1] 3.3 mi (8:36 / mi) +91m 7:55 / mi

Up to help Alex and Ed move, by moving Ed back to Boston to find his bus.

Quick jog around the triangular block by their new house. Not too flat. Not too much traffic.
