Run 1:03:01 [1] 7.0 mi (9:00 / mi) +171m 8:22 / mi

My dad and sister were running a few miles, and I convinced them to pick me up on the other side of the lake after a couple of thresholds where they would be able to have flat-ish running (and I could do thresholds flat-ish, too). Warmed up with 4.5 easy miles up over the hill and down, and then another 2.5 in between and at the end. Legs feel pretty damn good after 20 miles a couple days ago. Almost like training works.

Run tempo 33:34 [3] 5.0 mi (6:43 / mi) +92m 6:21 / mi

Two tempo runs along Lovejoy! These were quite good. The first one 30s slower than the second, because maybe I wasn't pushing hard enough? Rolling hills, though, and nicely 2.5 miles right to the middle of the dam bridge.

First one in 17:05 = 6:50s
Second one in 16:29 = 6:36s

Not hurting was the light tailwind (in places), shade, and cool temperatures. But feels pretty darned good, especially on not completely fresh legs! And then a ride up the hill which was definitely preferable than the slog up, even though it would have had a tailwind and been cool probably would have involved some walkage.

Hiking 58:00 [1] 2.3 mi (25:13 / mi) +402m 16:21 / mi

I only slept about 10 hours, but my legs felt pretty good. Warm in the morning, and going on a "fat hike" (phrasing of a former huts coworker) with the family. Up a nice mountain with lots of color. Lots of stopping, lots of hurry up and go and stop, but it was steep enough in between to still get a workout. I was going to do a bit of trail running but it was threatening rain and did just when we got in the car, so, good call.

Strava says it was harder than my usual effort … maybe because it got janky wrist HR. Guessing on moving time, uphill was 1200ft/mi, which is decent.

Run 2:46:27 [1] 20.0 mi (8:19 / mi) +170m 8:07 / mi

Nice day for a long pavement run. Out to the firehouse, then back on Comm Ave to the Longfellow. At a bunch of Nutella before the run which was mostly fine, certainly didn't bonk but may have gone a bit overboard. Ran a bit low on water, so took the Fiedler Bridge since I knew there was a bubbler there. Back via the MIT track for a lap to get to an even 20. Ran mostly 8s until the water went dry, felt pretty good. Not any real leg pain, hard to complain.

Running 6 more miles 1m faster per mile always seems scary after a run like this, but then again, tapering, and hopefully it won't be 72.

Run 40:42 [1] 4.9 mi (8:18 / mi)

Warm morning with meetings, then pouring rain, then cool. Waited for cool. But also wanted to go to a public meeting. So I ran there, with a couple extra squiggles around Knyvet Park on the way back.

Marathon training = all miles are good miles (on pavement)

Run 26:54 [3] 1.5 mi (17:56 / mi) +524m 8:36 / mi

Felt pretty good for 0630 and figured I'd give a go at crushing a PR at NP, since next month is most definitely out (week before NY).

First four sections were fast. Out ahead of the pack. The next 14 or so were also fast, but I was feeling my legs from intervals yesterday.

Then it was decided that I was not going to PR: couldn't keep legs going. HR dropped. Didn't want to destroy legs. Slowed way down.

Run intervals 20:55 [1] 3.5 mi (5:59 / mi)

Evening event = morning track.

Led drills. Other gents were doing 400s, and I wanted something longer, so came up with 4-8-12-8-12-8-4, which is not too far off what Terry is doing this evening.

First 400 in 87s. Felt slow.
First 800 in 3:02. Felt v. slow.

Here I said I was slow as fuck.

1200 in 4:39
800 in 2:52
1200 in 4:37

So, negative splits.

800 in 2:54
400 in 82

So okay, and it was warm and sunny. So mayhaps not that slow.

Run warm up/down 21:43 [1] 2.1 mi (10:20 / mi)

Warm up cool down interstitials.

Core 28:25 [1] 0.5 mi (56:49 / mi)

NP running around and doing things. May be sore tomorrow a bit.
