A good deal warmer today. We jogged over to Randy's pickup disc game. (Elena can throw a forehand, I can throw a backhand, hooray?) Elena has a conference near Madison, I went out with her for the weekend. Almost stayed out for the week but her conference is in the middle of nowhere, so back to Boston.

Originally the plan was MSN-ORD-BOS Sunday at 1600. We actually made it onto the jetway before ORD wx reared its ugly head. (It turns out they probably could have run our flight, so, yeah.) My options:

* long layover in ORD, landing in Boston around 0200.
* 0600 departure from MSN Monday arriving home around 1300, so missing half a day of work.
* Later departure from MSN, miss the whole day of work, and feel very silly flying home for three days (wedding in Mpls next weekend, couldn't call an audible since I hadn't brought work computer or enough clothes).

Uhhh none of these sound particularly good.

Then I realized there was a fourth not particularly good option: MSN-DEN-BOS. United booked it for me, in F (or I was high enough on the list) and off to DEN I went, the entirely wrong way. I had nearly 5 hours in DEN so I called my friends (okay, texted, but I am an older millennial) and they said "sure, take the train towards us" and got dinner and a beer. Slept a bit on the plane. More miles, more fun?

Running back and forth attempting to play ultimate. They would say things about coverages or whatever, and I would run around and try to either get the disc or keep others from getting the disc, and if given the disc I would almost immediately try to dispose of it (successfully). I almost had a great defense but was just a couple inches off, and I blew a defense. It was hot and fun and Elena and I decided that we should get a disc to throw around especially as her mobility decreases. Either that or start Pregnant Lady Ultimate League for her to play in, although for now she is still perfectly mobile. I should learn how to throw a disc better, though.

(Yeah, I know this isn't sportsball as much as sportsdisc, but I needed to make a new category. Also, there should be an easier way to make a new category out of an existing activity. "New activity type" only shows up when you manually add an activity.)

Legs felt heavy and it was warm-ish and muggy-ish but I should have gotten my act together earlier and done a lap of the lake as people were doing on bikes earlier in the day. Apparently it's actually only about 10.5 miles; I though it was more like 12 or 13. Still there would have been chafing. Then the sun came out on my way back and I was glad that I didn't.

50 stadium sections. Very warm in the sun, was supposed to return to the sun, said eff that, and did the rest in the shade. Still not fast.

At the end there were cookies and donuts so I stayed 10 minutes longer than I'd planned which led to a rushed trip home and into work (necessitated by not going into the office yesterday because work internet was down, so I had to fetch my computer), aided by using my real-ish bike for the commute.

My old MTB is now sitting in the backyard, unlocked. Not really rideable. Will need to figure out what to do with it. And at some point consider a gravel bike and new mountain bike (it's 26 years old, so dates from much closer to the beginning of mountain biking than from today).

Nice chatty run with my sister. Beautiful day for it, cool and breezy. Not looking forward to next week.

Did 3x strength this week adding a little weight (25 vs 20) and dropping the reps a bit. Doing it enough I don't even need the cheat sheet anymore. (The third time was going into the office on Thursday after I got locked out after hours and had to go in to get my work computer, might as well hit the heavy things room.)

This was supposed to be an easy work day and then I wound up solving a problem all day (moderately successfully) so didn't get out until later than hoped but it was a very nice day for a run. Saw Nadine (Mrs Brendan) on the bike path and had a very awkward head turn while running to figure out who had just said hello to me but figured it out. Which is better than the usual not figuring it out at all.

Broke out the rollerskis! Later than planned because I had to crunch some data for the Allston project, but then I put that on my headphones and hit the bike path. New poles were good, no blisters from the straps, back and arms felt okay for the first time. Just got to Mal's given the time, bit will work up to the whole path soon. Nice to have lots of daylight.
