Orienteering 3:00:00 [3] **
shoes: New Balance RX Terrain

distracted's training session on Blackdown, along with Kat, BorisGr and a bunch of OUOC people.

I had some kind of swelling or something (for simplicity I'll refer to it as a swelling from now on) on the back of my right heel. It makes walking in pretty much any pair of shoes I have painful, although it is no problem with no shoes on. I sometimes have blisters there but I don't think the problem is a blister since the skin feels hard, but nonetheless it is quite painful. This has kept me from training these last few days, so I didn't run particularly hard at any point today.

First exercise was contouring. I didn't get on too well with this one, the pain from the swelling was very distracting and there didn't seem to be much in the way of fast running you could do on the side of the hill since the wet weather made it quite slippery. I walked most of this one.

Second exercise was relocation. I went round with a group of people and managed to do some running. The swelling didn't feel too bad here.

Third exercise was a change-of-pace exercise with a mixture of long and short legs. Because of the swelling I cut out one control which would have involved dropping down about 6 contours and then going straight back up.

I quite liked most of the area (it was home to the 1974 British Champs, trivia fans). It was just a shame about the raining, swelling, felling and the out-of-date map. Nonetheless, thanks to distracted for organising an excellent day of training.
